Aaaah those Fiats...
My newest problem is electrical... Often when I first start my car in the morning and I press on the button to lower my windows, I hear a click (electrical relay click maybe) but the window doesn't move. If I press again in both directions, it still doesn't move. Sometimes I have to press a dozen times in both directions in order for the window to move.
Note that with each press I can hear the electrical click... The passenger windows works no problem...
What do you think it could be? Bad relay? Where can I find it?
Thanks All.

If i remember correctly the electric window relays are behind the glovebox. Remove the glovebox and you'll see a huge array of relays.

try the switch first, as they do give trouble. I think you can swap the connectors over on the switches on the driver side to test..

Hi guys and thankyou for replying.
I am sure that the problem is not with the switch cos when I press the switch I can hear the relay clicking just like normal, except that the window won't move.
Usually if I press the switch 4 or 5 times in a row in both sides, it will function fine.

This only happens on the the first start of the day and after that it's normal all day. Furthermore it doesn't happen everyday. It's just that yesterday it took like forever to function cos I haven't been in my car for 4 or 5 days.

Do yo recon it might be a stuck relay?
If I remove the glovebox will I know for sure which one is for the driver's window? I'll check Haynes.

Do both windows stop working or just one ?. If its only one, the problem could still be the particular switch. The control unit is located behind the glovebox. but you would be better to trace through the circuit to find the fault..

Just the passenger windows does this, the other one is fine. Is it only one controller for both windows? What is the electrical click I hear?
Thanks guys.

The switch clicks normmaly if your ears can hear a click under the dash thats the relay.

if the relays working then its the connection to the motor or the motor its self. dake the door card off take the motor out and go to a scrap yard and buy oner there. should be between £10 and £20 depending on how bad the scrappy is.

Thanks Falcon for the reply, yes I can hear a click from under the dash....
Also the window functions normally almost all the time. It rarely happens that only first time of the day it's stuck. That's why I don't think that the motor is gone, maybe it gets stuck sometimes so I was thinking maybe I should grease it up and clean its connectors.
Do I need to do something about the relay? Or if it is clicking it's functionning?

Both my windows have stopped working too. Does anyone know what's caused it? All the fuses by steering wheel are ok, seems weird that both don't work, are they run by one motor?
Cheers

motors can wear out slightly so theres enough powere to move them but if the condensation sticks the window to the runners then it hasnt got enough power to pull it loose.

I Use Parolium Jelly. tiny bit on your little finger. wind the window down and put your finger in the gap where the rubber is and run it up the gap until your fingers got nothing leftt then repeat until your all the way round to the other side. Dont put too much on otherwise it will look like someones cum on your car. and you wont pull with cum on your car.

trust me. it looks bad when the lass thinks youve been tossing off at your car.:tosser: :shakehead :nerner:

I got someone to test the wires behind the window switches in the door and there's no power going to them. Any ideas what's happened ?

Well it sound like a bad connection to me if your friend takes the fuse for the windows out and tests the connection between the fuse and the windows then you will find out. try replacing the fuse anyway. and check the connections in the doors opening. if the drivers door bit in the hinge is not locked in then it wont work.

Hi
thanks so much for replying, unfortunately I'm having trouble finding the fuse for the windows. Don't suppose you know where it is ? I've checked all the ones by the steering wheel and all's well there, could it be anywhere else ?
Best wishes, Luisa

I have a similar problem, in that both front windows sometimes work and sometimes not.

Sometimes the windows will travel downwards with a push of the button, other times I'll be pressing for minutes before anything moves. When the windows have travelled downwards, they may occaisionally travel back upwards at the pull of the switch, but more often than not they will take ages to move.

I can also still here the clicking in the switch, when pressing either buttons. If a fuse or relay was gone, wouldn't that mean the windows would stop working entirely?

I'm not sure I understand how this condensation issue works. I mean that I might be 45 minutes into a journey and the windows still might not work, so I would have thought that the condensation would have disappeared by then. :(

I'll still try this vaseline fix, but I think that the window motors are a bit weak now, but is it normal for both window motors to start failing at the same time?

Or, from my descriptions above, am I barking up the wrong street?
