Hi,

I have a problem that is driving me crazy! When I put my indicators on they work fine until I press the brake peddle. At this point the indicators stop functioning until the brake pedal is released. This is an annoying problem, however a more serious problem is that when the head or sidelights are on and I turn on the indicators and depress the brake peddle the reverse lights come on as well as the fog lights, and the indicators stop working. I have also noticed that every time I put the indicators on or brake that the "fog lights on" LED indicator on the centre console of the dashboard begins to blink. I think this whole problem is most likely down to a short somewhere, only problem is I can't find it. Does anyone have any idea where the problem may be, specifically, or does anyone have experience of the same problem?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you

here's my input auto electrician find one (y) as it sounds like you have multiple malfunctions

I had a similar problem with my punto reverse lights except they tended to stick on I fixed this by buying a new reverse switch

I had a golf mk 1 once the fuse box used to get real hot nothing worked. It could have been a clowns car. You would press the horn & the windscreen wipers would work things like that.. The fact is you have no idea what people can get up to.. Has this person seeking help just recently bought the car, or has it just started doing these strange things

if the left stalk is getting warm i'd think it is that which is causing the problems. i'd also check all the connectors onto the lights (especially back lights) to see if any are wet or corroded.

also do a visual check that all bulbs are working, problems like this can sometimes be a burnt out bulb
