I have a Brava SX with a factory fitted GT Autos 108/142 alarm system which has been a bit temperamental at times but has otherwise been okay... until yesterday...:(

The problem is that when the alarm was set it would not turn off afterwards (using the same key fob). Opening the doors just set the alarm off (until the doors were closed again). If inside the car with alarm wailing, the engine would start okay - and possibly drive okay I guess... but my wife was not too impressed at doing that! I changed the keyfob battery and used another keyfob. Both were usable beforehand. Disconnecting the battery did not work as the unit has an inbuilt battery

The alarm was left to go off about ten times in a row and it turned itself off. The breakdown man (who now says "EH?" alot) who was present pulled the 20amp orange fuse out of the wiring harness to the GT108 box in the passenger footwell, which stopped the LED located in the courtesy light from flashing.

If I replace the fuse, the LED just flashes. Car still starts etc. Trying to reprogram the keyfobs does not work either...

Is there an alarm rest button anywhere or receiver unit to have a look at?

I cannot find any tech info on this alarm anywhere on the web such as a user manual or wiring diagram.

Any ideas?

as far as i know there wasnt a "GT Autos" alarm fitted by fiat. i've never heard of GT autos alarms. fiat usually fit meta alarms. also the original LED is not on the interior light, it is on the dash under the hazard warning light switch. why do you think it was factory fitted? it sounds to me like an aftermarker alarm fitted by a previous owner.

the problem sounds like a fault in the reciever module. probably best to install a new alarm or leave the current one disabled. fixing an alarm isnt really possible unless you have access to a variety of microelectronic parts and you're handy with a multimeter and soldering iron. an alarm is so cheap on ebay so if you want one its not going to be expensive to replace.
