I have a V reg 99 Brava but I only have 1 blue key. (the only key I have)

I have been to the high street key cutter and he says that he can cut me a key but he can't program it and all it will do is open the door nothing else, as the Keys from '99 onwards have to be done by Fiat which will cost around £100.

Is this true? Is there any way to get a key copied without having the RED key? How can I get a new RED key?

Please help. I thought I had lost my keys yesterday and that would have been that. So I need to get a spare key cut, if possible.

To go to timpsons, there's one in the Arndale centre upstairs, it cost £25
Thats where I went mate, they put the key into a machine and said they couldn't make a key as it has something to do with the code on the key on models from '99 onward.

Thanks anyway.

Is there a circle and triangle symbol on the key and number 2 written on it. If it is then it is 2nd type of immobiliser. Someone on the forum said these keys have laser encrypted code in it which cant be copied. If you just have triangle and circle and no number, then it can be cloned easily.

There is the circle and triangle symbol, then on the other side of the key it has a code on it- A602

Don't know what this means.

There are places that can reset your imobilizer and reprog it and supply 3 new keys. You need to send them your ecu and code block, along with a key that will open/turn the ignition. If you have lost the key you would have to send your boot lock (as long as this is opened with the same key as used in the ignition.)

I suggest go to another timpsons on monday, am sure they will be able to clone it easily.

I got a key cloned at a fiat main dealers. I would have thought the key would be cut from the particular car manufactures blank in question. I also hope people that are cloning keys are seeing proof of ownership before hand...

Early keys are programmed by manufacturer and cannot be re-programmed, but can be copied easily. Later 1999+ I think use a system similar to other car manufacturers, ie you need to get a security code from dealers for a small fee £20?.. Then you need to buy a key blank about £12, then you need someone to programme it, about £40. Take it to the dealer and save the hassle.

you dont need all that for a code 1 system, its a straight clone job

i should think you can get an auto locksmith to programme you a key normall price is around £60 where r u in the country and yep you should get a spare asap]I have a V reg 99 Brava but I only have 1 blue key. (the only key I have)

:) you can get a key from any normal locksmith with cloning gear if its a non cloning key then an auto locksmith will b able to do it for you theres a coouple up near you but if you want to come to southport ill do one for you but itll cost you £55

You have working blue key, right. Just go to any good key cutter (Timpsons) who has a code reader and copier. They will clone your blue key. Cardiff Timpsons price is £25 for two keys. In your case, you will not need a red key to programme. Just copy the code from you working blue key to the new blue keys u make. It's really simple and nothing to worry about.

i once taped the chip to the underside of my steering column so any key (or screwdriver) would work. it saves the hassle, and thieves will still think the immob is on so it wont make you more likely to get stolen.
