Hello,
I write from chile, this post is for you...
can help me to decode the password for a ecu unit of my fiat brava, the red key is destroy and dont have any key, now, start the car with the emergency starter process, but is too slow.
i am electronics engenier, and work about how decode the pasword code in the ecu.
if you can work in this thread, please mail me.
:)

several companies in the UK offer an ecu decode service. i've been told that you can wipe all codes from the ecu by passing 5Vdc into the earth pin on the ecu and then earth at another pin, but i dont know which one. it is definately possible, but experimenting would probably damage the ecu so I havent tried.

another option- you can use the keys, locks, ecu and immobiliser ecu from a car in a scrapyard. if you get the full set and fit it to your car it will work. its not a hard job to do, but finding a full set with keys is difficult

I have the exact same problem lost my red key this weekend and it was the only key left car is now locked outside my house,is there anything i can do other th replacing locks ecu and immobiliser!and also would i have to get thses parts from the same model car ie 1.2 brava.i am desperate for advice here.
cheers
Hoppy

I also would be greatful if someone could tell what the emergency start procedure is?
cheers

Replaceing keys, locks, immo, and ECU is probably the most straightforward if you can get all the bits. There are 2 types of immo which I am aware of, if it is the Megamos variety which came with 3 keys, then I know how to recode them, but you still have to buy a new key (or two) and have it cut and programmed to suit locks. Its also easy to calculate a valid Fiat code that will work with the immo. To do this yourself you need a good understanding of electronics and eqipment. Also ECU can be made "virgin" and will work the car if the immo is disconnected. This also requires knowledge and equipment.
To start the car by the emergency method, you need the code which was supplied with the car.

The recovery procedure is as follows:
1) press acceterator to its greatest extentuntil ECU warning light remains on.
2) When the light goes out, release the acc. pedal. The ECU warning will begin to flash on-off, the first No of the code can be entered.
3) To enter the No on the code card, it is necessary to count the on-off pulses of the ECU warning light and press the acc. after the No on the code card is equal, hold down until light remains on.
4) Repeat the process from 1) to enter the remaining No's on the code card.
5) If sucessful car will start, if not repeat procedure.

thanx to everyone for your replys especially reddy4bed,as i have know keys at all will i have to hotwire it just to beging the emergency start procedure?also i am a software engineer by trade so should have the nessessary understanding of electronics what tools would i need?also is it possible to have a new key made up using the code card as i have red some contrdictory post regarding this?

New keys are possible to programme with code card, but you will have to cut the keys to suit your locks and key barrels, which is difficult as you dont have any keys.

ok so would it be possible then to just replace the locks and get the keys programmed from the card?thanx again
Hoppy

If your going to get in the car to replace the locks, you can get in the car and take a lock out to get a key cut for it, seems easier.

If the code card you have is a line of small No's ie 123456 then this is just the emergency start sequence, and it is not possiblc to get key codes from it.
Continental vehicles I believe were supplied with a security code card which would enable keys to be programmed this would be something like :-
1A E4 F0 B2 . UK sold vehicles keep this info at Fiat and is available for a small fee. The code card you have is bound to be the start sequence, and if a red key was originally supplied then there is no other record of the key info, because the Fiat supplied key was not programmable type. Back to the other options I'm afraid.

it work:slayer: am very very happy :) thank fro any help especialy REDDY4BED :worship:
