(T) Horn

The car is a 1.6 sx Brava. A few months ago I had problems with the electrics in the steering colum. The windscreen wiper stopped working after being intermittent for a while. I took it to a Fiat dealer who kindly reseated the electrics and got it working and charged me £120 for the pleasure . The problem I have now is that the airbag light has come on and the horn has stopped working. I dont want to take it back to have the pleasure of paying someone to reseat the cables. Does anyone have any ideas on the wiring for the horn so i can check the connections ?

Before moving on to the electrics, maybe you should first make sure if the horn is still working, maybe the problem is not in the electrics... Test it, perhaps it's gone, or try to tap it a bit first, this used to happen on my older car

dont go back to fiat, please. i lose sleep thinking about people going back to dealers.

1st check the fuse for the horn. also check the horn by wiring it direct to a 12v supply, you can use 2 lengths of wire one connected to your battery positive terminal and the other connected to a good earth on chassis. if the horn sounds when wired directly you can start to check the wiring. by removing the steering wheel (leave battery disconnected for half hour first for airbag discharge) you can inspect the connection behind it for the horn. if thats ok you need to get a multimeter out and try testing wires for continuity, a wiring diagram from haynes will help you figure out how the horn is wired.

the airbag light is on most fiats i've seen, well almost all of them, fiat can turn it off for £30 but it will almost definately come back on, they may change a wire here or clean a connection there but its just a crap airbag system at the end of the day. pull the bulb out if it really bothers you.
