Hi

Ive been trying to find a company that can chip or remap my Bravo HGT but without success. Ive tried angel tunning and superchips and was told by both that they couldnt help. Ive seen the "milenium" chips from L and M international but they seem to be more suited to changing between engine maps depending on the type of driving your doing and to be honest im just looking for a simple remap

anyone know of anyother places i could check?

thanks

Besty

try http://www.reddotracing.co.uk/eng/RedDot Home Page.htm
there are many places offering to flash the red dot maps to your ecu via obd. or you can buy thousands of maps off ebay and the obd equipment needed for less than the price of a remap and then sell your services to other people. i've posted another post recently with links to an ebay item and a handheld obd tool, try using the search bar to find it.

Yeah i saw that, its got the engine management code next to it so ill have a look in the manual and see if it matchs, that chip might be for the Mk1 and not my mk2 155. Thanks for the link though. Had a search around and it looks like BBR GTI do the chip as well. Looks promising after the disapointments of Angel and superchips. Its came as a bit of a shock just how difficult it is to get anything out of the HGT's engine, shame cos its a cracker and sounds great :slayer:

reddot maps are the ones Angeltuning use. i cant remember whic hgt it is thaat can be remaped, but you could always go down the dastek route, as a couple of guys on www.fiatboo.co.uk have done this on their hgt's:)

Firstly, Angel Tuning do use Red Dot maps on occasion when time dictates but as a rule, we do our own mapping on the majority of vehicles. Red Dot do indeed use some of the equipment that we use, but we have a vast array of different equipment at our dispossal as well.

The HGT155 has a hybrid ECU. It cannot be opened nor can it be programmed. The Millenium unit that Red Dot use does indeed list the HGT as one that can be done however this is not the case, as although the Bosch hardware numbers are identical to some Alfa Romeo and Fiat, the internal boards are different.

The one thing we can suggest is something like Star Chip from a reputable company such as AH Motorpsort in Fleet, Hampshire.

As Chairman of BOO, and a previous owner of one of the last HGT155's beleve me we have tried on many many occasions to remap the HGT ECU's and have spent '000's on different equipment in order to try and do so (same as the bloody 1.6's!) but sometimes you just have to admit defeat.

i could be wrong as i have the 147 engine but i spoke to celtic tuning and they said they will superchip my ECU for me for £295 all in, i just had to send them my ECU...

the power gains were 13bhp and 13lbft, bringing the car up neatly to 160bhp

The 147 HGT can be chipped by anyone, including ourselves*, Celtic Tuning, Chipped UK and even Super****. The HGT155 is as mentioned previously has a hybrid ECU. It has a an ECU that cannot be tampered with and has un unwritable chip, therefore it cannot be opened to rechip it as there is not a traditional style "chip" in it nor can it be reprogrammed.

If you have a 155HGT, try
http://www.ahmotorsports.co.uk/index2.htm for £365 +VAT

If you have a 147 HGT, try Graham and Tony at
www.celtictuning.co.uk

*we wont though as we dont work on older cars, sorry!

your just booting loads of business out the door by saying that, if you wernt so moany and put it in an offencive way on your site i would of handed £400 to you to do it, nevermind looks like celtic will be £300 up

By stating we do not work on cars older than 5-6 years old on our web site is not moaning, nor is offensive to anyone. Its like saying we do not make trousers for people with a size 40" or above waist - not becuase we don't like them, we just don't cater for them.

We do not do Japanese cars either - why - cos we dont cater for them quite simply and we point them off to another buisness partner who does, its business concentration, nothing to do with wanting moan about people driving Japanese cars.

If we did cars over 6 years old then we wouldnt put on the website that we didn't and when you asked us we would have said yes we will do it - then you may have given us your £400 - but as we don't do cars over 6 years old and advised you so , you haven't given us your business and we weren't looking to obtain it - what was the point of your post?

Not one single person has ever been offended by us saying, sorry we do not work on cars over 6 years old before (actually not true, we had one **** with a 1989 BMW 850 who did, but that was funny at the time) and if you have taken offence at us saying we dont work on cars over 6 years, I am sorry, none was intended, its just our business focus.

its just the way i remember reading it on your site, i beleive it said "if your cars older that 1999, dont contact us!"

Nope it says and always has:-
"PLEASE NOTE: ECU remapping can only be carried out on cars built after 1999."

I don't see anything rude or nasty in that.

i dont think its rude, stupid maybe, but im not offended so dont worry. you must be cuting more than 50% of your possible sales, but thats your choice. maybe you dont like making money?

actually while we're on the subject, turbopacs once refused to fit a nitrous kit to my mates corsa gsi because they said it was too old and had too high milage (it was 5 years old with nearly 90k). they said they had seen too many high milage cars break a fairly short while after fitting nitrous so they had a policy to not fit it to cars with more than 60k. they did agree to do it in the end but only after my mate agreed that there would be no warranty and turbopacs would not be respnsible for any damage, even if it happened the same day as fitting. maybe angel tuning have their policy for similar reasons? in which case it isnt a stupid policy at all, its just protecting the business.

I am trying to write this without making people sound a bit dim so if it comes across like that, please - I am trying to word this without doing so.

"ECU remapping can only be carried out on cars made after 1999"

The clue is that cars that are made before 1999 cannot be remapped as in - they cant be done. There is no stupidity in it - they simply cannot be done as they do not have flash EPROM technology. There are a few exceptions, a smattering of BMW and the Alfa 156 - but thats it.

Lets put it another way.
If your car is made before 1999, it cannot be remapped, therefore a company that specialises in remapping cars will be unable to do anything for it - i.e. us and why we put on our website, if your car is made before 1999 we cannot remap it.

So as for cutting sales - er no, we are not cutting any sales as we dont sell anything for cars made before 1999 and yes, we like making money, thats what we are in business for. Stupid - nope, just not our business.

We don't have a milage policy, although we obviously take this into consideration when tuning a car.

Have we all understood now :-D

that makes perfect sense, i cant believe i even asked. obviously you cant flash an ecu without some eprom memory on it to flash. im so daft, but thanks for your patience and not calling me a thick shet.
