Hi,

I have a Fiat Brava, 2001, 1.6, 16V and I can't find the fuel filter!!!!
Can somebody tell me where is the filter located??? please!!

Thank you!

i've a 97 1.4 and just replaced it. its just in front of the right rear wheel. take off the covering and hey presto it'll be lookin straight at you. if in any doubt follow the blue tubing under the car, it goes straight to it. Hope this helps.

Mk2 1.6 don't have changeable fuel filter, though you may find the cover Rumplestiltskin told you about but you won't find any filter beneath it. On these models the filter is built into the fuel pump and Haynes and Fiat claim that it's not to be replaced regularly.

Thank you, guys!

Anyway, meanwhile I've check with a Fiat service and they tell me what TheCROW say:"On this model Fiat choose a returnless fuel supply system, without any fuel filter!"

I don't really know what that means, but - no fuel filter ...

Now, an other question: what is "returnless fuel supply system" and how dose it work? :D

Thanks!

In the older return systems the fuel pump delivers more fuel to the engine than it actually needs. The excess fuel is then routed back to the tank through a pressure regulator and return line.
In a returnless system there is no pressure regulator on the fuel rail and no return line back to the tank. The regulator is mounted in the fuel tank and is usually part of the fuel pump module.

A returnless system uses the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to regulate fuel delivery. A fuel pressure sensor mounted on the fuel rail allows the PCM to monitor fuel pressure. When pressure in the supply rail drops as engine load or speed increases the PCM compensates by increasing injector duration or the operating speed of the fuel pump.

basically almost all new cars are returnless these days. however most returnless systems still have a fuel filter, as does the 1.6 bravo, but the filter is incorporated into the fuel pump and shouldnt ever need changing (unless you put newspaper in the tank or something like that)
