My fiat bravo has been standing for a few months and Ive now decided to sort it out and sell it. Before it was abandomed everything on the car worked fine but as I went to reverse the car out the garage I found the clutch no longer engaged. It feels like the cable could have snapped. Can anyone tell me where abouts the clutch cable/cylinder is on a 1.6 16v sx so I can investigte this problem. Many thanks

If i'm not mistaken i think all Bravo's have hydraulic clutches. Have you checked the reservoir in the engine bay to see if its empty or low. To gain access to the clutch slave cylinder, then you will need to remove the battery and tray. It will be sitting on top of the gearbox.

thanks for that, where bouts will the reservoir be??

I have exactly the same problem did you find out how to fix it ? The clutch cable feels like it's snapped if you put your foot on the pedal

Check the hydraulic fluid reservoir first. If it's full enough then pump the clutch with your foot lots and lots and see if that makes it work. If the clutch needs bleeding this can temporarily clear the hydraulics. If that fails then check under the car to see if it's leaking fluid. Follow the trail back into the engine if it is. Failing this, there's alot of posts on here about clutch slave cylinders that are probably worth a read...

As per above post the Bravo does not have a clutch cable there hydraulic... need to check the res for fluid and if its full remove the battery and tray so that you can check the Clutch Cylinder on the top of the gearbox there is a bleed value on it as well..... if the clutch pedal hits the floor and does not return then its an hydraulic issue cus as you say the car was fine before it stood for a while...

Just FYI:
Some Bravo/a DOES have clutch cables. Maybe not the UK models as is the case in this thread, but mine sure does have a crappy old cable - Brava 1.6, bought in Denmark.
Have a nice weekend :D
