1) I have a HLX and when i shut the drivers door (i haven't tried the passengers) with some force the back of my sunroof lifts slightly and then falls back into place. Is this a fault????

2) I am getting new tyres soon and was wandering if there would be any adverse effects of putting 195/50/15's on instead of the 185/55/15's that were on the car when i bought it, the bigger tyre seems to be alot cheaper (probs cos its the one RS turbos and Golf GTI's use), i was thinking of getting Toyo Proxes @ £40 a piece, are they good tyres?

3) My rear windscreen wiper doesn't work, will it just be a case of a new motor ([:0]£90.00 off fiat[:0]) or could it be something more simple?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.[8D]

1) check the screws that hold the glass in place arn't loose(2 each side) 2) the width change to 195 shouldn't be a problem but the change in profile to a 55 will change the speedo reading as the diameter wii increase.someone will give more accurate info on this. 3) could be loads of things, was it playing up,running slow before?check the fuse, the connection to the motor and get back if it is none of these;)

the correct size for the car is 185/55/15. if you want 195 width, you use 195/50/15, as this has the nearest sidewall size (195x.50 = 97.5) (185x55 = 101.75) 195/55/15 would have a sidewall of 107.25mm which would give incorrect speedo readings.

I have the sunroof problem too, it's the worst when you close the boot, nothing much to be worried about. it's more of a design problem than anything,

The wiper problem could be caused by corrosion on the contacts on the boot sill. give these a sanding/filing and check that the rear wash/wipe pipe hasn't come loose and wet the motor. Is there a repeated clicking noise when you switch the wiper on?

hope this is some help. have had all these problems myself.

Hi,
Toyo make good budget sports tyres, the Proxes have had some good reviews.
Also have a look at some Eagle Ventura's. They are a good all weather tyre again with some very good reviews. Slightly softer compound so drive well but wear out quicker.

The wiper wasn't working when i got the car, i test drove it and tested it (and it worked) but didn't think to test it when i picked the car up. The contacts on the boot sill dont look particularly dirty but i will get some glass paper or summit to them to clean them off anyway. My rrear wash works fine and i couldn't see sign of water damage when i opened it up. Could be the fuse though, is that in the main fuse box?
If the motor is shagged is it the ame as the one in the punto's as it would be easier to find a punto in a scrappy.

the one in the (mk2) punto goes from right to left. the brava from left to right. as far as i can remember. the fuse is for both front and rear wiper. does the wiper work if you switch it on, then open and close the boot. or switch the ignition off then on. try moving the wiper with your hand when switched on. most likely motor or boot contacts (which are unnecessary as bravo doesn't have them. silly idea)

Had same prob with my rear wiper,if you can hear ticking when ignition is on motor is knackered.I got one off a 1.4 brava, but had
to change connections on motor as they were different from 100TD.Easy
job to do as they are just screwed on:)

Toyo Proxes are just wicked. Handling is really good. The key is because they're a silicon compound.

Drivers of cars like Type-R's, TTs, Cupra R's, etc. etc. all benefit greatly from Proxes (and these are cars that come with stuff like Bridgestone Potenza's as standard - bestish tyres Bridgestone make, for example).

Get Toyo's.

Got my Toyo's the weekend before all the snow a few weeks ago, well impresed.
Handles alot better in snow than the balled tyres did for some reason;)

My wiper is still goosed though. Dead as a door nail no wiring, clicking grating or anything.[:(!]

Hi Q TOY

The problem with the sunroof might be casued by an air current. Is the internal recirculation on? If so, switch it off. You might find that, with the sunroof open slightly, it doesnt do it.

If this is the case, be thankful - the sunroof seal is very tight! Try lubricating it with rubber lubricant.

any sunroof i've seen on a brava moves when you close the boot!

Met Cognac 99 Brava 100 HSX, wish it'd clean itself!
