If it has one it'll be infront of the drivers side rear wheel under a plastic cover.

Does my car have one also? I have a 99 Brava 100SX 1.6 16V manual and my driver's side is on the left.
Where is it suppose to be?

While we're on the topic, my fuel filter is built into the fuel tank so it's a whole tank replacement jobbie if/ when it needs done. Is there any way of checking it and if not, how often do Fiat recommend it is all replaced?

How do I know if my car is like yours Helz, exactly where do I check to find out. If my car has one I really need to change it ASAP cos the fuel here is very crappy!!!
Please someone point me in the right direction.
Thanxall.

I imagine if you have one it will be in the same place as the others above. I just read it in Haynes manual but this doesn't cover diesel versions so can't be of more help I'm afraid.
My car is fuel (petrol) version not diesel.....
And if it has one exactly where do I look for it and exactly what does the plastic cover look like? Cos I didn't quite understand the previous post.
And one more thing, in my car the driver's side is on the left.
Thanx.

It should be under your car (in your case) just forward of the passengers rear wheel. Theres a plastic access panel there.

@ Helz

What engine do you have in your Brava?

You have to change the tank as well? that sounds a bit extreme! there must be an easier way round the problem?

1242 :) Sorry Crow, I misread your post above, for some reason thought you said JTD
Thankyou guys, I'll check it and get back to you.
And Helz, no problem, I'm just happy you are helping me out.
This is a great forum!
Thankyou all.

I forgot to ask: Can I access it when the car is on the ground or I need to lift it at the station or somewhere else? I mean is it in the wheel compartment or under the door closer to the ground?
Sorry and Thankyou.

I'm pretty sure the 1.2 doesn't have the fuel filter in the tank. If its not under the access panel infront of the drivers side rear wheel then it will be in the engine bay.

FAO JTD OWNERS...

Just incase someone finds this thread and is after the location of the JTD fuel filter (since we have mentioned JTD and fuel filter in the same thread) - its the big cylinder sitting vertically behind the engine. Its a pig to get to and removing the bracket and pipes may be the only sensible way to change it.

I think the 1242 and one other engine size mentioned by Haynes (which I can't remember off the top of my head) are the only ones not to have inline filters; if it did, I am sure mine would have been changed at least once in the 46k it's done so far but that's never been done. Will double check though - or any other 1242 owners confirm or deny?

I hope the other engine not having a fuel filter is not mine cos I don't know where to look for it.
Someone help please :bang:

Please guys someone help.
Is it possible that 1.6SX Bravas 99 model don't have replaceable fuel filters???

all 1.6 16v bravo/as have a fuel filter inside the fuel tank according to haynes, i know my 1.6 has one there, if i remember rightly you gain access under the back seats by removing a plastic plate. i know of cars with 120k+ that have not changed the filter and have no problems. mine was changed by the previous owner becuase they misdiagnosed a failed injector, and they said the change made no differecne at 88k, so i guess its safe to say they last a long time, unless you like to pour mud and gravel into your fuel tank...
