Best way to relieve fuel pressure

Hi - this weekend am going to replace a dead injector on Brava 1.6 W Reg.

I was wondering what best way to relieve fuel pressure is? Car has not been driven for 48hrs. Being a late model it has the pressure relief valve at end of fuel rail - is holding a towel over this whilst pressing in valve enough to contain spill?

The other option is to disconnect the quick fit connector on pipe on bulkhead at back of engine - could I also put tray under this and use towel here instead?

Thanks for any advice

Ted

Ted

lift rear seat.. remove 3 x phillips crews, (access info - http://www.fiatforum.com/punto-mk1-g...o-1-1-spi.html )

disconnect wiring to fuel pump

run engine until it runs out of fuel..

reconnect when you are done.. system is self priming

Most cars have a fuel pump relay that can be disabled by unplugging a fuse.

Do this then fire up the motor until it cuts out.

There is also a trip switch incase of an accident that cuts off the fuel pump, most cars have this in the passenger foot well under the carpet (usually near the door on the side of the chassis inside the foot well)... you can inhibit this (same as pulling fuse to the relay as above).
