Hi,
is it a solid "EYE" or still rubber mounted..??needs flexibility as the suspension moves..,

the length of the clamping bolts TUBE is important to make sure it is bolted up correctly;)

Charlie

On the new one is rubber where pointing with nail the shining bit on the old one is just the rubber bigger

I fitted KYB Excel-G gas shocks to my Brava a few years ago so they should be OK assuming they supplied the right parts. It just seems to be a different design of bushing.

These shocks are supposed to give a firmer ride, and that is what I found although maybe it gets softer with use.

Also... you are really supposed to do the final tightening of the nuts (with a torque wrench) with the weight of the car on the wheels - this is not very easy so most garages or mechanics don't bother...

Hi thanks i did tighten with torque as was in the hynes manual but the car was on axles ,i thing the hardest will top eye as is hidden behind wheel ,do i need to loose the bolts a then tighten it ?

Hi there, yes the best way would be to undo the nuts a little and then retighten when the wheels are in position.

As I said not easy but you could lift the car high, put a brick under the tyres and then lower into the bricks / wheel so that you have room to get underneath.
