Picked up the Brava recently for a cheap run about to work. Only fueled it twice so not too bad on fuel at all. However fuelling for the second time today was quite the disaster. The punp either clicked out of it completely spat out of the tank. Tried various angles with the nozzle to no avail. Used to just pushing it in to the hilt and then fueling.

Eventually I was able to hold it half way and fuel until the top part of the opening filled, drained into the tank in a second then repeated. 5 mins to do £30 though, not right.

There is a green plastic insert in the tube leading to the tank. I am assuming this is playing some part in all of this? Im not particularly knowledgeable about cars, but don't want to be forking out for a mechanic if I can fix it myself.

Please let me know what you think the issue might be?

cheers

The green part has a flap that you push the nozzle trough.

The filler neck goes inside the wheelwell so you can just jack it up and see if the tyre has kicked a pinecone or something between the filler neck and frame, twisting it. The inlet is attached with one nut inside the wheelwell (it will be rusty) and metal clip on the rubber under the fuel door.

Take a picture of it?

Been a little while, discovered the thing has a cracked sump too!

Please see the picture attached. I get the feeling this should be up further in the pipe, not where it is currently. Does it need hooking back?

Seems like the green part has detached. It should be directly under the fuelcap.

Managed to hook it with a coat hanger and pull it up. Should do the trick.

Now I've just got to fix the cracked sump which the previous owner has made a hash of to get the last bolt out of it.
