Hey guys,

So he previous owner somehow managed to bend the handbrake to the driver side, I asked the mechanic and he said that some metal plate from the bottom is cracked, I tried taking the center console between the seats apart but the handbrake itself doesnt allow me to, I removed all the screws and clips and what not but if I try to push it to the front side to get clear of the handbrake I can't seem to figure out how they put it in unless the handbrake got in last. Any tips how to fix this as it looks highly tacky and I need to fix it if I ever get my car to a show level :)

Just look at the marea armrest guides, afaik there is one screw under the plate where electric mirror adjustment/coinslots is.

And there is another under the rubber part exactly under the ashtray, there are also two plastic screws/clips on the side under the dash. I took it apart, I can move it about but not completely remove it so I have clear access to the handbrake

Any ideas how to remove the plastic middle part guys? my car currently has 1 seat as I was trying to remove it yesterday, there just isn't enough room to move it forward to clear the handbrake, tbh I think its stupid that I have to tear half the car apart just to get access to the handbrake base....

Have you tought about loosening the handbrake cable so you can pull it up more and pull the back up first...

Its a 1999 1.9 jtd as far as I know, my car has no rear badges and no manual so I'm not sure how to check which exact model is it. Neverth, youre a genius, I managed to remove the centre dash with minimum hassle, unfortunately, the problem lies from under the car as the bolts that tighten the handbrake are kindof upside down. Atleast i cleaned it up for good :)

Took off the handbrake completely by removing two bolts from the underside of the car, not exactly in a convenient position but they're not that badly located. Added a couple washers to one side to offset the bend and get it straight again, looked promising until I re attached the handbrake cable and it got back to exactly the same position... i need to think some more....
