God that looks familiar! Like a different version of the one I have :( The Brava has a negative trigger so use that diagram. There is no central locking wiring diagram in Haynes or the Fiat manual :( Try this thread for information on the locking mechanism wires. As for where to power it from, somewhere around the ignition might be handy as you'll be getting full power. Here's a hint, don't try the hazard lights *sighs*. I still gotta finish it at some point. I don't know where you are in the UK but if you want to have a get together and mass alarm fitting then I'm up for it!

Hazards was simple enough eventually! I put two wires into the engne bay and connected the wires from the alarm system to the hazard circuits (one each side f engine bay)

TIP:

If you only have one wire for hazard lights coming out of alarm you will have problems as if you connect it to both circuits each time you indicate bth sets will go off!

Will look at thread you posted thanks :)

Hazards were simple enough but we ran it from inside the car - trying to run 15amps through a 10amp fuse doesn't work LOL. I forgot to answer your original point but I assume you discovered black was earth, that the Haynes suggestions for wiring colours behind the dash are wrong and you probably wouldn't have known this but there is a way to wire it up to the hazards inside the car involviong an upside down mate and a pair of long nosed pliers :)

Info I have is;

unlock-light blue
lock-white neg pulse at drivers door

indicators-light blue(pos 5) & light blue/black(pos 8) connector 'H' in fuse box

door protection-red/white at drivers door loom

boot-red/black at overhead light

+15 positive-orange at ignition switch

+30 battery supply-red on 12 way connector marked 'J' located in rear part of fuse box

Hope this is of help?

Thanks for your help everyone keep it coming!
Had a problem with the "brain unit" so had to sent it back a while ago .. . . still waiting for it to come back . . the person wont reply to their emails!!! Bloody annoying!!

All sorted now!! Thanks everyone for your help couldnt have done it without you! :) :) :)

why play with wires all over the place when you can attack this problem from the relay. the central locking relay is behind the glove box. i removed it and soldered wires onto each of the pins. this made sense because i put the alarm behind the glove box. the soldered wires could be easily connected to the alarm without touching any of the original fiat wiring. i only have 1 wire that leaves the glove box area and thats for the siren under the bonnet, everything else was done from behind the glove box or dash, nice and neat and tidy. for hazards i'd recommend using the hazard switch on the dash, again soldering the alarm wire onto the switched live pin. for alarm live use the glove box light, its permanent, fused and again in the right place for the alarm. there's nothing worse that chopping wires or laying new wires all over the car, its only a matter of time until problems start, or a fire. keep it simple, fuse everything and dont twist wires together.

I have a single wire from my alarm system that has a 500mA Ground output. I know this can be used to control the central locking and it involves using a relay. Could anyone tell me exactly how? And is it easy to spot the central locking behind the glove box? Thanks

i dont see how one wire can both open and close the doors. you need a central locking control add-on for the alarm, or even a universal one, that uses the one wire as a signal to lock/unlock.

the central locking relay behind the glove box is hard to miss, its yellow.

Lol thanks. Yeah I know the one wire is ******** on its own. I know of a way of doing it with an autorelay using the wire to switch live circuits between two different circuits. That doesn't even make much sense to me so well done if you get that.

right i get you now, using 1 relay that will control both the lock and unlock signals getting sent to the central locking relay controlled by the 1 wire on the alarm. thats easily possible if you can find the right relay. the central locking add-ons are just a relay really so its the same thing, just a bit of a DIY approach. test your one wire, it should show -12vDC and +12vDC depending on arm or disarm, and show 0v the rest of the time. if it does then it is suitable for this approach.

Hi there,
I own a 2001 Brava, 1.6 16V.

I've try to spot the central locking relay behind the glove box but
there is no yellow relay....

Only a big blue one, a red one and 2 black ....

Any ideas?

electrically, many things changed on the 2001 models. i expect the relay will still be behind the govebox, check which relay it is by disconnecting each one until the locking stops working.

well ... I don't think this will help because the locking is the problem. It's not working at all.
I have a remote mounted for the central locking system on this car by the previous owner and about 3 weeks ago the central locking stops working.

If you want to see what’s behind the govebox … see attached images.

Thanks.

the green relay is where i had the locking relay, i've never seen a green one before, and it looks bigger than the yelow one.

So, is NOT this one than! The green relay fit correctly into the slot.
Where else can be?
It's neither on the driver side where the fuse compartment is nor under the steering wheel...

??????
