hi i am new to forum so please be patient but any advice welcome,is the air bag warning light staying on an mot fail or not,and thinking of buying an OBD 2 scanner cp 9035 which reads and resets dtc's is this suitable for reseting the warning light on my N reg brava cheers Bazz.

air bags are not part of the MOT so the light should not fal it.

Angel tuning can reset the air bag light for you for around £20. Worth finding out what caused the light to come on though.

Don't think the N reg Brava has OBD 2

Nope they dont have OBD2, and I dont know if we can reset one that old. Would do it for a tenner if we could

Have been told by the garage that my car will fail the MOT,when due, with the airbag light on. Mechanic recommended removing the blub:D

Hi steve1219 I think I would change garages if I was you as airbags have nothing to do with a Mot as they are still classed as an accessory and if the mechanic has got a certificate to do MOT's he should know this.
Unless the vosa rules have changed recently which I have not heard of,

If you are failed for the light you should report the garge to VOSA its address is on the failiure slip that he should issue to you

If any warning lights which are meant to go out once the ignition has initialised, don't, then the car will fail the MOT. Especially Airbag Lights.

IMO this is pathetic. That's like saying my car will fail an MOT because it doesn't have ABS at all, or someone's car will fail an MOT because it doesn't have an airbag. It's not a level playing field. Not an attack on anyone here: it's the system that's at fault.

well ive never failed a car because of an airbag light,!!! i would ask the tester to show you in the testers guide the 'actual line' that says to fail one if its on.

BTW you do have a right to be shown the manual if you ask. if not call VOSA they take complaints VERY seriously and wont fob you off.

pay no attention to the 'motfinder' web site its rubbish for information.

the 'mottester' site is a propper site, this is a question and answer from that site ive copied for you..

AIRBAGS
Hi there. When I turn the ignition on my airbag light comes on but also stays on until I turn the engine off. The airbag light staying on, is this an M.O.T. failure? Thanks Neil

There are no checks at all on airbags as part of the MOT Test. MOTT.

just to confirm,at the moment, air bag lights are not part of the mot. in the very near future they will be.same with abs.airbag light usually on because the pretensioner on the seatbelt stork has broken due to the seat being moved.a quick soldering sorts it out.but the light needs to be reset.
