Hi guys,

firstly I am new to the forum so that I would say hi,

I have a Fiat Bravo 1.2 SX 80 on a 51 plate

Please can you help me, my car is suffering from major leaking. It is literally dripping out of the bottom of the engine as fast as I am topping it up.

I have looked at all the hoses and they are all attached and do not appear to have any splits.

The water is leaking directly from the bottom.

Please find attached a screenshot of where the water is dripping from

Any ideas guys?

Inside the bellhousing?
If it has not mixed with oil (pull the stick/cap and look at it), id still say its some hose/fitting/thermostat housing.
Check that no bleed screws have blown off the heater hoses (drips along the block to the lowest point which is the bottom of the bellhousing).
Blown headgasket should do all other kind of stuff instead of just leaking to outside of block.

If it comes from inside the housing, you should be hearing parts of your disintegrated block bouncing around as it hits the spinning flywheel, or that its only cracked but that should have other effects too. Or if it had mixed with oil and leaks through the crank seal, it should have oil with it.

It only looks like leaking from there as it is the lowest point.

You are running antifreeze, not clear water?

Thanks, ill check the bleed screws although I am sure they are ok.

1 thing to mention is before this problem occurred I was getting a horrible tinkering noise for a few weeks as well as a churning on the clutch pedal but this disappeared, the day before this leaking occurred, I firstly could not start the car as the starter would not spin (this has been changed before) so I bump started it, it then overheated about 20 mins after usage.

Could it be the water pump leaking? where is this situated?

Hi,
the noises don't sound promising..,

the water pump is on the Drivers -UK - side,
low down on engine just above the LARGE pulley,
there is a metal TUBE that runs from it along the FRONT of the engine - should have a rubber hose attatched just above where you took your photo,

It's not unusual for this METAL TUBE to become leaky..,
in your PIC , it looks as if water is running down from higher-up befroe dripping from the lowest point ( the bell housing)

have a look for "cam-belt change" in the GUIDES for a few decent photo's of the waterpump area / location - PUNTO is pretty similar,
Charlie

Plan on spending some money to get someone who knows what they're doing to look at it and fix it, before you wreck the poor thing completely.

Ignoring major noises and just fiddling about with the symptoms of probable neglect and damage will not get you anywhere, the same with asking for help on the internet without giving full information...

These are good cars and engines but unfortunately they reach the age where people can't be bothered looking after them until it's too late.

Plan on at least a new clutch and full cooling system overhaul...

Well bumped it and it appears to be running pretty sweet although pissin out water from the bottom.
Could not see the area u mentioned atall there appears to be no metal pipes anywhere around the large pulley :(

Looked under cap and there is black sludge in the top, not white atall, is this normal?

Drove it to a local garage to see if they can find the problem will await their findings

Right, the garage gave me feedback, he said he is not sure whether it is worth fixing he said its dripping as fast as u are topping it up and as its dripping out o the bellhousing it will cost me about £80 for him to remove the gearbox to investigate further, he thinks it may be the core plug

Thoughts please , would the core plug seem feasible and should I pay £80 for further investigation?
