i own a fiat brava
my fan stopped turning,i think it needs replacing but i cannot reach it
How can i get to this fan

On a right hand drive car you access the fan from the passenger foot well directly

You unclip the electrical connector, unscrew one screw with a phips screwdriver then twist then fan unit about 1/4 of a turn to relese it and it will drop down. its very very easy.

This pics should help

Checked fuses?
Does it work in the fastest position? -> resistor box broken (assuming it is not the auto-aircon)
You could check with multimeter if the fan is getting any power?

ok that was easy enough. I measured the the voltage on the connector with a test light . the test light lights up but only for a second or so when i take the light off and try it again after some time it lights up again for a second.
btw fuse A9 is ok

Can i apply 12 V to the fan ?

Should the fan speed selection switch on 4 put the 12V on the fan directly
assuming the selector is not on max def?

now is time to find the right wiring diagram. The ID tag states Motor 182A4000
type 182BB1AA 11C this type is found in vol 3 5.Intro & Tech Data 1998 16.

What is the right diagram

The owners manual states that the fan is behind the A9 fuse, and if i put the fuse while the system is in MAX DEF mode the signal lights get switched off
did i mention that the car has airco and no ABS

Manual heater and nonauto aircon direct power direclty to then fan when switched to 4.
Since you say MAX DEF, its the automatic aircon, which has variable speed controller (and "auto" position for the fan speed).

MAX DEF should engage the fan at full speed and engage the compressor.

With the variable speed controller, the fan motor is always getting the +12V feed, check that against some known good ground (gicarette lighter ground/some bare metal part on chassis).
The controller is on the negative side of the fan and regulates the fan spees as ordered by the aircon control unit. Cant say much else than check connections for corrosion. Only had the gears on recirculation flap motor break on my autoaircon marea, nothing electrical.

This and this should help (for 1.6).

Thanks you both,

for now i am going to hot wire the fan, full speed, ugly but effective

bye
