Hello evryone, I'am Gleb from israel, i'am owner of fiat bravo 97, 1.6 16V in very good mechanical condition.

In the past i was owner of cars that goes better than the fiat, Alfa romeo sprint 1.7 88, Lancia thema 2.0 93, Peugeot 106XSI 1.6 95.

now the fiat is the daily driver and i happy with the car but there some improves to do.

1. the brakes is to weak (non ventilated disks in front and drums at the rear) and because to israel not imported the bravo GT and the bravo HGT imported in very small numbers so i can't find the conversion to bigger disks or at least ventilated disks. i tought about disks and calipers from the fiat marea 1.6 or the fiat multipla the we have here in big numbers. does it fit? what else can fit?
2. i wiil change the tyres an the wheels size in the future to 195\55\15 from 185\60\14.
3. need to change the rear shocks to new (monroe will be ok?) and to fix the heater radiator.
4. thinking of an lowering springs but will it be o.k with the monroe shocks at the front and the rear?
5. also will be glad to improve some hp from the engine (the engine in great condition after overhaul). will adding K&N open air filter and exhaust pipe system 2.5 inch will help? there some more simple changes?

sorry for my rubbish english!

Hello System X welcome to the forum!

The standard 1.6 uses 257x12mm solid disc's.
The 1.6 Automatic and 1.8 Use 257x20mm vented disc's and the same callipers.

So you can take the 1.8 calipers, disc's and pads and put them on the 1.6 without any extra effort.

Here several people say they have converted from 1.6 to 1.8 brakes;
https://www.fiatforum.com/bravo-brava/196149-brakes-upgrade.html

To fit the HGT brakes you need to change more because the caliper mounting is different.

thank you, but in israel we do not have the bravo 1.8, only have the 1.4\1.6\HGT and because of this i want to know if the marea 1.6 calipers and ventilated discs will fit my bravo (the marea we have here only with the 1.6 engine).

thank you for the guide but i need calipers from an car that we have here in israel and the only one that i could think of is the fiat marea. i need you to apply this option if it possible and how easy.

i glad to hear that lowering springs o.k with the monroe replacement shocks! the springs i can buy here is the KW.

i also have to say that cold air hard to get here because the climate, most of the year it's summer in here and the daily temperature here is 30+ °C and wery felt humidity. now is the winter season here and i think the car goes better :)

and after all of this we have here other great things ;)

Marea calipers fit too :) bring all the cables (inc the short one) and use the spacers it comes with :) much of a muchness what to do but theres less to do when the axle is in the car :)

I use unknown springs on a 60/40 drop and thy work well

I should have worded better! I meant to say once the filter has a constant supply of fresh air it will work well (y) for example, I use a feed from one of the fog light holes :)

could you not buy some vented discs for the bravo off the ebay uk site and see if they would ship to israel of course at a more bigger cost on postage :)

any air filter will do on the bravo, the best and safest place for you induction kit would be in the arch just a little lower than the standard air box, or your crazy like me and M20b25, have it even lower down near the rad or foglight :p..

good luck with the car anyway.:slayer:

thank you but i prefer to buy things like this at the first time i will go abroad.

not only the shipping cost is high, we also have here problem to import parts that connected to the safety of the car like brakes and i will need to bring some accaptence from fiat workshop to the import tax that the part is o.k. for my car and that they will instal the part on the car..... i hate it but have no choice.

do you have an HGT spoiler for the bravo?

I have to say that i very glad that i found this forum with people who really know the fiat bravo!

and one more question: how can i remove the back passengers windows? i want to put on them an tint nylon.

How do you mean the brakes are too weak? The standard brakes should be more than capable of locking the wheels under hard braking, so uprating them would just mean locking the wheels that much faster. Switching to disks at the rear I can understand, but uprating the front for normal road use should not be necessary.

What happens when you are going along at around 30 kph and stamp on the brakes hard as you can?

For example if you will try driving on an peugeot 106 wirh berlingo calipers and brake pumps from citroen berlingo you will see what is grate brakes!

Progress: i fitted an open air filter, the sound is grate now! Also bought front and rear speaker, at front doors morel tempo coax 7*5 and at the back 6*9 and also morel tempo coax, have to say they have great sound!

Tomorrow i think i will go to bring wheels, lenso light s3 black but i don't shure that i have an budget for tires and with this i will wait to the next month.

some new stuff

next week i hope to buy tires for this wheels.
