Hi All,

My son has a 2000(x) bravo 1.2 and the engine management warning light has started to stay on sometimes when the car is started from cold.
If he switches off and leaves it for a short while he can start it and the lights goes off as it should.
He has noticed no problems or changes in the way the car runs when the light comes on but obviously would like to sort it.

He has just moved to Brighton and so I was wondering if any of you guys know of a good (ie reliable and trustworthy) garage that he could use for servicing and to check out his current problem.

When he is home with us we have a brilliant guy (NSB Auto Services) who looks after his and our car (a 1997 Brava 1.6sx) but he could use a local place to where he is living while at Uni.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Try this site, it isnt perfect but at least you can get some Customer feedback & a list of garages participating in the scheme. See what you think, make some phone calls or visit them & have a chat.

As hinted above by m20b25, he should get the engine ECU diagnosed by a garage or auto electrician, they will read any fault codes to indidicate any failing sensors etc, and be able to reset the unit. The 2000 1.2 engine has 2 lambda probes, these are common culprits of failures and error indications. Also a compression check could be useful, as there are issues with failing headgaskets on these engines and it's best to catch it early.

If he doesn't find somewhere in Brighton it should survive until the Christmas break and he can use your usual garage. But a student should be learning to do his own diagnostics, repairs and servicing!
