just changed to an after market cd player for my bravo, i just wanted to know how do i go about changing the wires over, i asume its the red and black wires i have to change?and at which end?the wires coming from the car are the ones that are on the unit?

the change over is on the stereo's loom. There should be two wires that have disconnectable joins on them.
If there isnt any disconnectable wires then I wont want to guess which ones need changed

from looking at it,i havent seen any that can change over.its a kenwood unit so i dont know if anyone has tried to fit one b4 on a bravo. because its no swaped over it loses memory every time the ignition goes off.

Sounds like it hasn't got the continuous power lead in the right place... 'fraid I don't know enough to help more than that!

ok after i looking at my manual i saw the wires and i changed them over, this has fixed the problem. but how is it that the radio dont play when the ignition is off like the old one?but the light still flashes.

standard stereo has an override built in to have the power still being able to be kept on.
The Brava/o is interesting as its very unlike Fiat to have a car where a stereo turns off with the ignition.
if the light is the security light when the facia is removed, thats still powered by the live

yes the light is the security led on the stereo, it still flashes but will not work with the ignition off. this wasnt the case with the punto i have that i take the cd unit from, it always plays even with the ignition off.

As I say the Brava/o is a oneoff when it comes to fiats. its like every other make of car where there is no power to the stereo except for the live to keep memory and have the led flashing

ok i see, cause i found the punto a bit strange at first cause the ignition would be off but the stereo still played, so i though it must be normal and now i get the opposite with the bravo, i called one of my uncle who has a rover 600 and he said it shouldnt play if the ignition is off and is normal.

Well the wires got swapped over so it no longer lost the memory.
As for the working with ignition off, its up to the radio.

The Brav/marea headunits have a menu where you can choose if the radio stays on or turns off hen you switch off the ignition.

As for aftermarket radios, its up to them how to make the logic behave, some assume the constant power wire is just to keep memory/clock and don't supply enough current to turn on the radio. And therefore make the logic to not turn on the radio unless there is the other power feed.

You could feed the constant power to both of the headunit wires, leaving the ignition activated one disconnected. But then you need to be sure when you use the power button, it actually enters a low power mode.
