I'm trying to fit an amp and a sub-woofer to my standard head unit and i have two questions

where should the remote wire goes in the head unit?

how can i pass the power cable from behind the dashboard to the battery

thanx

There should be a diagram with your head unit manual which tells you where the remote wire goes. It differs between head units. If you don't have the manual check the manufacturer's website. If it's a sony or pioneer one i could look at my manuals and see which one it is?

As for the power cable to the amplifier, I put the amplifier in the boot, ran the cable under the rear seats and through a little hatch in the middle of the chassis under the rear seat that looked designed for cable runs, then along the side of the centre console and then into the passenger footwell. Behind and under the glovebox if you peel back the carpet (might need to cut it a little at the top to get it far enough down) there should be a rubber grommet that you can make a hole in, this blocks a hole through the firewall into the engine compartment. If you slide your hand behind the carpet you should be able to find the grommet before you start destroying the carpet. Punch a hole in the grommet with a screwdriver and then plug the gap up with silicone sealant afterwards.

Tip - don't run your signal cables next to your power cable or you'll get feedback and distortion. Take the other set under the other side of the centre console if you want to do a proper job

Oh yeah, I missed that bit. 'Standard head unit'. I think he means the Fiat unit, it's made by Grundig in Spain iirc. I've got about 4 of them cluttering various cubpoards and spare rooms...

I think I've got a wiring map for that stereo in the back of the Haynes manual, I'll have a look when I get back home today.

Thanx very much Joe .. That was really helpful .. I keep reading about the grommet but I never found it , I didn't know it's under the carpet

And yes by standard I mean the fiat cassette

BTW I used a line out converter and connected it to the rear speakers wires in the cassette , is that the correct way to do it
