Having spent the last month flicking through flea-bay an autoraider , It seems bravo JTD's are rare as rocking horse s*** ! :(
As there are not one on either at this point......

I have wondered if this is because there so brilliant , nobody wants to sell them or give them up ?

Or because none of them have lasted this long ?

Or thinking now , not that many were ever produced.

What do you guys think

Also on the same point, if I have to bite the bullet, and give up on trying to fix my now non running bravo hlx 100 JTD. Would I see a better return on braking it , than just scrapping it ???

Or does it have a sale value beyond its scrap value ? I have seen the same one ont tinternet braking for the last month, and thats almost the only one, I cant say as I have seen a rarer model.

Its such a hard thing as the cars condition is really good , and has some nice features , and theres the distinct possibility its something only minor wrong with it, IF I can perceiver and get to the bottom of it myself, as I dont think its worth the funds to throw a descent professional at the problem , to investigate and change parts willy nilly.....

So any advice on what the best thing to do is, regards of braking or scraping and crying ???

peace out my fiat bretherin

Just run through the problem with yours again, the fact is its going to be cheaper to fix it than buy another one.

Hey Jimmybob !

I have had some wicked advice an help of another member on here, and I know Im getting ahead of myself, its more just frustration than anything, as I havent really been able to do anything since I 1st posted about my problems.

Because the job that called me to Derby, and a lack of money, I stillmplan to registar wiv the AA in Derby in a week, then come back up north an call em out, an get relayed to my place in Derby, where I can take the time to investigate, and have more tools there.

I did a few weeks ago let a back street mechanic take her away and have a look, but he refered me to some specialists in stockton, that are none too cheap, but I couldnt manage the logistics anywho......

problems were, and still are.....

Bought car, wouldnt rev over 3000 , no power , 1st garage tells me they "think" its the turbo, and they dont want to bother with it, Even thou they never found a home for this red boost pipe coincidently. Took it to a guy I knew, but by no means an expert, who noticed the waste guage was not moving when the car was turned on or off, traced it back to no vacuum to the wastegate actuator fingy, after it been left with him for a few days while I was in Derby, it will no longer start, battery dead, it turns, it may start an run for one time for mere seconds, but wont rev an dies.

So thats were I have been for a few weeks, like i say one mechanic has had it since then, but he hadnt a clue, I really dont want to give up on her, and want to see this baby on the road, but the odds are stacking up against me.

Mot just run out in the last few days, and I forget the part but it one of the rear beam bush fingys that my friend told me was leaking and would be a failure. Plus the front brakes dont seemed to have worked since I got it, could that be linked to the turbo vacuum problem...?

I bought a vag-com cable got a good few fault codes, but having analysed the info, im not sure how much is fase positives, or to do with the engine change.

My next point of action is to check the crank sensor, on the advice of a very helpful member on here, who has taken me under his wing :D

Just been so long winded while waiting for funds and time, So I havent time to follow up a lot of the god advice Ive had, hopefully in the next few weeks I can get moving.
But still have a lot of doubts, and dont want to throw to much money at it.

just a quick check to see if the crank sensor is working you need to check the injector switching with either a noid light or multimeter if there is no switching the ecu is not getting a speed sensor from engine (crank sensor) or its immobilsed but the key light would keep flashing.

if you need anymore help let me know

cheers chris

Thanks fo the reply Forest.....

Im learning a lot as I go, I do have a little knowledge and a can do attitude.

I bought a vag com cable and read a few fault codes, I knew there was a possibility that the 1st reading could be old codes, but after clearing them and doing another read, I got the same codes.

p0404 / EGR / Invalid signal

p0215/ Diesel pump / no signal

p1612/ Fuel filter heater relay / no signal

p0101/ MAF / signal low

p0704 / clutch signal / invalid signal

p0236 /overboost valve / no signal / light on

u1600 /immobiliser ; key faulty / light on

p0235 /supercharging pressure / light on.

I went over these codes with my friend on here, And he did say that only a couple could cause non running issues, if I remember the diesel pump could be a cause, but for that to just stop working over the few days this muppet had it, seems strange, I did try the fuel cut off switch but to no avail. another friend said it sounded like fuel starvation, but then tried taking one of the fuel thing pipes off that was going to the fuel filter off, but it was pumping fuel. Had a home brakedown bloke come an have a look, he said could be the filter.

I think the immobilizer is a false positive, as I had the key code light come on maybe twice, maybe to do with a low battery, but putting my red key in cleared that light.
I do now remember me mate sending me a link to an article bout taking out some of them relays in the front of the engine, and just giving the area a good clean wiv some contact cleaner, so need to try that still......

Its a bit disheartening for me, Im normally the guy who cant or wont go near a garage wiv the cars I drive, I do what I can myself and have a few people to do the other stuff.
Then when Im willing to actually lay out to get it sorted, I cant ! so called bloody mechanics, I call one mobile guy who tells me he dont really want to bother, BUT If I take it to the experts and find out whats wrong with it, then he will do the work cheaper.......lol. call yourself a mechanic lol.

And then you read stories on here, one post I was following regarding very similar symptoms with a multi JTD , there car was off the road for 6 months, after having numerous garages say it was everything from the turbo to the ECU, and having spent over a grand, they found a blocked t-joint for the boost pipes to be the culprit.

I know I just need a bit more motivation, having not being able to do a thing with the car for over a month, cause of being in Derby and my car in Redcar, and still waiting for my 1st few pay cheques to roll in, plus a few friends telling me to just cut my loses thou I really dont want to.
I wasnt so daunted when the old girl was actually running, as it ticked over sweet as a nut, so I didnt suspect anything major, the turbo was looked at and found to be fine. But now being put even further back with this whole none starting issue.

Anyways sorry to go on :D

I have a multimeter ! Bought it especially, but will be learning how to use it, as i havent used one before, I still cant do the checks as we speak, because I have been trying to get hold of some axel stands so I can get rite under the car.

watch this space lol

just wondering how old the car is and am i right in thinking its the 1.9 jtd common rail / hdi engine ?

looking at the codes i would go for fuel pump as a starting point as long as the key light is going out with the master key.

undo the air intake a spray a very very very little carb cleaner/ easy start past the pipe (not into it just past it) while cranking and see if it splutters, if so its got a fuel issue (could still be immobilized but its given us a direction.

now to check the fuel pressure of the fuel pump (presuming its a bosh hdi pump) with the multimeter i have attached the test procedure read it a few times before doing it let me know if you get stuck.

Initial problem of your car not reving above 3000rpm was likely the MAF sensor. This happened to mine. It was awful to drive as turbo wouldn't kick in. It had no power and wouldn't go above 50mph in 4th gear. The MAF sensor was replaced at a cost of £140.00at a Fiat dealer and the car was reborn. Since it has been totally reliable. That was 7 years ago.

As for the other fault codes these are probably as a result of the numpty "mechanics" you have used to try to repair your car messing it up as they don't know what they are doing. Try and find some one who does.
