Hey, write bad but hope you understand, I'm from Norway.
redface.gif

my 96 1.4 will not start. but if I fill the fuel directly into the carburetor, it goes to the fuel is used up.
I think it's fuel pump, i cant hear any buzzing,
even if I take onn and off the wires on top of the tank .

fuel pump?

Hi Gotthard

how many kilometers does your car have? Mine had about 200 000 km when the fuel pump went dead. In theory, it could be the fuel pump electrical relais, or its fuse, however I think that to be extremely unlikely. In my case, I got a fuel pump from the scrap yard of the same car type and the problem was gone.

By the way, you should hear the noise of the pump only for some seconds after ignition is switched on, if the motor does not start the ECU shuts the relais of to prevent overloading the pump.

the cars speedo shows 200,998:)
hwen im measurin the wires in too the thank, its 8.2v, so it locks like the pump gets power.
ill tray to get a second heand one, but there are few such cars in this country, read somewhere that in 1996 it was sold only 48 pieces bravo:eek:
in the cars owner manuel its not telling mi where the fuse for fuel pump sits, anyone know?

thanks:worship:

Also check the emergency fuel shutoff. (large black buttonlike doodad, in Lefthand drive cars below the passenger seat, in RHD models below the driver) It has been known to pop out spontaniously. It should be pressed down.

've tried it, removing the pump tomorrow and try to forcible run it, see if it responds then.

google translater is my friend from now on(y)

can I use a pump that connects to the hose? other similar objects are sold, they should be connected directly to the tubing and shall replace the original pump.
or do I need the original pump.?

Not all bravos have the same fuel pump. The casing may look similar, though.

The 1,4 l engine has a Bosch fuel pump which provides 1 Bar maximum pressure. The bigger engines (i.e. the 1.6 l engine) have pumps which provide 3 Bar maximum pressure. You may also look at the Brava models, they may have the pump you need if they have the same motor and injection unit as your car.

Its possible to change only the pump itself (without the casing). New china models cost only 20 pounds. However, I did prever to get an original pump of the same model from the scrap yard. But since the casing was dirty, I got the pump out and fittet it in the old casing.

However, the clips which fixes the fuel tubes to the pump are tricky to fit, it was difficult to use them once again since they had bended slighly on removal (but that's only a marginal problem, you may use some new clips from a motorcycle shop).

took out the pump today, it worked but was slow, so I blew a little. cursed a bit and threatened the pump and then it started to go faster.
mounted pump but it will still not start!

fuses in the engine room is full, the relay click so where to start and debug?

Now it works again!
have removed the pump and forced run it, went bad at first but started and going nicely. put it in but then it did not work. measured in lines and they had power, but it did not worked yet.
I put a Bateria Charger Connects directly to the pump and then it went fine, when I then connected the wires back original suddenly it works!

will be interesting to see how long it works now;)

are there some others who have experienced similar?
