Hi,
I've got a '98 1.4 that is leaking from the rear-side of the fuel filter.
I pulled the plastic cover to have a look. The bracket is quite rusted so I couldn't get it off, and the clamp around the filter itself is rusted beyond recognition of how to get it off.
My theory is that the filter is gummed up enough that when the pump pressurizes the system, it leaks out of the inbound side of the filter.
But I don't know when end is which. The side that leaks is the rear of the filter, the end tilted up.
What would be much worse would be if that was the "filtered" side and the clip-on junction has died.
Lying in slush to sort this out is no fun. The parts shop is 30 km away and I can go get a filter tomorrow if that is likely the problem.
Any thoughts?
Joseph
