Alright lads, looking for as much advice and info as you can throw at me, I currently have a Brava 1.2 w-reg pre eobd, my faithful mate at my local scrap yard has got a marea 20v ELX on an s-reg(I think), I haven’t seen or heard of anybody doing this particular conversion and am looking for advice and info on the wiring loom side of things, I am assuming that everything will bolt in like for like due to the chassis's being near identical, but I'm assuming there is a big difference on the wiring side and maybe on the fuel side of things as I know the 1.2 has no return line to the tank but not sure on the 20v, I know it would be easier to buy a marea 20v but I like the challenge and I love my Brava so please if all you want to say is buy another car then please don’t post(1 plus side of the Brava having a 20v is its only 30kgs heavier then the bravo but can accommodate my family :p). Help will be really appreciated, cheers

People have done it before, some have even put the Alfa V6 in Brava's and the 20valve turbo from the Coupes.

You can use the forums version of ePer to cross reference parts from the Bravo HGT and Marea 2.0. The bad thing about starting with a 1.2 you will need to upgrade a lot of stuff like the anti roll bars, suspesnsion braking system where as the 1.8 shares a good amount of parts, but saying that if you buy a lot of new parts you will have a very good car (y)

Watch out for the fly by wire throttle vs cable operated make sure you get all the parts you need depending on how you convert it.

There is already a 20vlave Saloon version of the Marea. They look very nice see https://www.fiatforum.com/members-motors/92186-beast-marea-updated-new-wheels.html

In short, its difficult. Different subframe, shocks, brakes, arms, hubs, fuel pump and tank, even the wings and bumper. This is all the easy stuff though. If the Marea itself was a vis... That Marea will have the old style ecu in the box near the fuses (if I remember) and has one long plug. Your 1.2 has the newer bosch ecu with 2 plugs. This not only controlls the engine, but also the speedo, tacho, temp guage and fuel. Youll need a loom from a vis engine along with the ancillaries such as the tb, sensors etc. If your car is a cable throttle, you may forget about it totally as the vis was fly by wire and converting to that isnt very easy (ive tried and failed doing it the other way). I have 2 manuals on the Coupé, i just need to find a way to upload them...

Your best bet is to wait till a vis Marea arrives then go from there. With that other car in the yard at the mo, pillage the headlights, wings and door handles off it

not sure if the marea I've got is a VIS or not, still learning about all the models and I hevernt had 5mins recently to check, the idea was to take all chassis items from the marea aswell as the engine, if it is fly by then couldnt I just remove my dash and change the whole wiring loom etc completelyand fit to the brava? I dont intend for any of the standard 1.2 running gear to be left on the car anyway. all that the merea is missing is the front shocks and springs so provided all the other marea running gear is ok not much chassis wise should need to be new (although if I have some spare cash I will replace some parts.

already got the headlights and door handles from the marea  couldnt wait for them lol, the wings are alittle dinted so havernt fitted them yet.

are you able to email the coupe manuals sell on disc over ebay? I'm happy to pay and would appreciate it very much mate:worship:

Judging by the plate I'm guessing its 1998 so its the last of the cable throttle 5 cyl engines. Its not easy from there. Try source out a VIS loom and components on ebay, that will be a start :) If you can get a pic of the engine up will be able to tell for sure...

Changing the loom from the ecu to the dash isnt as easy as it seems on a 1.2 (see below)

The manuals I got off some website, when I get the link I'll put it up :)

wow, I see what you mean, best leave that as a last resort then hey , I will pop down later on today if I get chance and get a pic, if not it will definately be tomorrow, if you comfirm its not a VIS then will look up the parts, I'm just praying that it is

made the decision not to go ahead with it due to the amound of time it will take to complete, I cant afford to be without a car anylonger then a weekend and I curtainly cant afford to run another car whilst I'm doing it, but the 20v hunt isnt over as now I have my eyes set on a marea 20v (y) so all is not lost!
