I already posted in the bodyshop section but haven't received any answer there yet. Thought I'd try here as well.

Yesterday I managed to slide my car into a lamppost. The left side (Driver side for me, as I have a left-hand drive) front wing and bumper have dented and need to be replaced. I cant find any info on how the wing is bolted to the car at windscreen/door side of it. I did find the bolts at the front. Does anybody have any info on how it is fixed?

At the front of the bumper I can see that there is another plastic bit inside there that is also broken. What part is this and is it important? (I suspect its a frame for mounting the fog lights. As I don't have those and don't plan on mounting any)

There are two bolts going from under the front bumper up into the wing. and right at the tip of the wing is a rubber almost wheel that holds the bumper to the wing, but that will slide off. On the light is a ball joint that clips into the wing. All the way up the edge of the wing near the door and along the top of the wing is a type of sealant im told you need to cut through with bit of wire or knife.

This image might be usefull;

The wing is held mainly with hex bolts but near the windscreen its held by the bonnet hinges (youll have to remove this by reaching up with a ratchet and undoing the nuts) and its bonded at the bulkhead (hacksaw or piano wire + you will need to remove the door to access this). There is also one phillips screw head at the bottom of the wing, this might be a curse to take out

As for the bumper, its bolted to the wings, the radiator valance and to the front crossmember. Dont forget to take out the plastic liners when your taking off the wings

Its time consuming rather than difficult, good luck with the repair (y)

Thanks for all the answers. Im currently trying to find the necessary parts (Scrappy parts in the right colour would be ideal, painting new parts gets expensive I think although I haven't gotten any quotes yet)

I'll post some updates when I get to actually working on the damn thing. The workshop I normally use is currently full, so it might be a few days.

BTW: Is it possible to remount the door after the wing is off? I might have to park it outside when not working on it, and having the door in place would be nice :p

Little update, I managed to finally get the bumper and wing off. The car is currently in the workshop with a naked front end and a gaping hole (Missing the door) kinda heart-breaking to see it standing there like that. Hopefully I'll have the parts in before Christmas. I will then see if I just spray primer and mount them, then paint them later or if I will paint them first and then mount them. I'm hoping to take the parts to a DIY garage with a proper paint booth as I just plain hate doing a mediocre job with spray cans and having them sprayed by a pro is too expensive.

Hopefully I can put the bonnet back temporarily tonight, and put the door back on its hinges.

Final job list, new wing, new bumper, new wingsupport, new lower resonator and pipe (or cap off) and a lot of hours of tinkering and cursing. Especially cursing, lots and lots of cursing :bang::bang: Some of those designers really didn't put much thought into disassembly. (Like the front bolts connecting the bumper and the wing together. Very hard to reach the threaded bus to keep it from spinning, and the bolt is barely reachable with a ratchet. I had to take out the headlights and horns so I could put a visegrips on the bushing to undo the right side. I decided no to bother on the left side and just gave it good kick. Needs replacing anyway :D)

I also have yet another question. How necessary is the lower resonator in the air-intake. Mine is smashed to bits and I currently can't find a replacement. (None of the local parts-suppliers seem to have it) If it is too expensive or if I just can't find it, is it possible to just plug off the hole and be done with it?
