bought it for the gf yesterday,
from a family member who couldnt afford to reinsure t&t it

anyway

the battery was knacked so stuck mine on and first crack it started no prob after about 6/7 months stood
(hope the battery is knacked or my cousen has broke my charger the t*t)

rear drums were stuck on so gave it some stick and off it went
front brakes not such a good story they work good but grind a bit prob tore pad off or there full of sh!t, and steering not as loose as i would have liked
expected all that really basic service stuff and maybe bleed the systems wouldn't surprise me if i don't even need new brakes just a good refit/clean unless i damaged the rear drums but hey there only drums or maybe it wants a front bareings (usually do that anyway on cars i get) but i doupt it
lovely gear change,

first think will just put it in for a mot and see what that throws up then ill post up for some help on bits and bobs if needed allready spotted a few threads but nothing seems bad so far

did hear water slohhing noise in dash prob air or lack of been looked after i hope

washer jet on one side not working and need radio code,

info on what oil will change it and filter if needed dunno if should risk adding to whatever is iin there not 100% knowing

slow electric passenger window

as said 1st thing 1st mot time
having trouble getting her insured (will make a seperate thread on that tomoz) so prob swap mine over to get the tax if it passes

if anything else crosses my mind ill ad to this post

Oil you need is 10w40 semi synth, oil filter is an OC 259. Gearbox is 75synth

Fluids (brake, power steering etc) would have to be changed along with the coolant. DOT 4, dexron 3 and Paraflu blue (50/50 mix of paraflu/water) in that order

As for the brakes, whip the drums off and clean them with a wire brush then check the adjusters and springs, a weak piont in the system. Make sure the adjuster isnt stuck. Same with the discs, wire brush and sand paper. New pads are a must

The slow window is common, usually caused by a bent/strained door or worn motor. Open it up and grease the motor

If it has a pollen filter it needs renewing

A new washer jet is about £3 from Fiat. Adjust with a precision flat head screwdriver

Thermostat will need replacing soon as its a 9 year old car. The bolts WILL ring, use a vice grips to get the stump out then use new bolts on refitting

The exhaust wont like being disturbed so keep an eye on it. Once the back box goes crusty its time to bin it. Also while driving if the rear wheels feel like theyre going to fall off it needs new rear shockers

Theres a programme online that calculates the radio codes, but these radios arnt as good as the aftermarket job, its worth considering changing it to a good pioneer or sony

Ive prob left out something but i have the main points :)

thanks m20 your my new friend lol,
still working out how to get it to a test station or maybe just take it to my mate to do the brakes and leave it in his hands as i usually do with my car. problem is i need a good gap to swap insurance as it would leave me carless tho wont cost me anything so thats what ill do for now incase of any nasty supprises then tax it asap.

this thread should make good refrence if/when the niggles pop up,

i do have another genral question did the bravo ever get any abarth treatment? i did see one with abarth badges skirts that looked like this one we just got, would that mean it just had alloys and badges like the cinquecento with a sport gearbox?

No worries :p you could trailer it and warm it up at the centre ive had to do that before...

There was an Abarth kit for these cars, front bumper, rear bumper corners, side skirts, 15' wheels and a big spoiler. Suits the car and looks realy good. They go for approx £100 onwards without the wheels on ebay (though a good set of 17s look way better than the 15s imo)
