Technical Passenger Rear Radius Arm

As the procedure is much the same on either car (Puntos wear out more often though)

  • Remove centre cap for the hub nut and loosen nut (32mm)
  • Jack the car, remove wheel and remove all brake components
  • Remove the hub (carefully), the drum backing plate, handbrake cable and the brake hoses and pipes on the arm in question. Try to plug up the brake fluid as if let run dry it will ruin the master cylinder (which is a disaster to replace)
  • Undo the suspension strut (19mm nut and 15mm bolt at the top) and withdraw
  • Remove the spring and rubber piece it sits on
  • Undo the rear anti roll bar on the arm (I think 2 x 13mm bolts and 1 x 15mm bolt)
  • The arm is now held on by one big bolt. Undo with a breaker bar and spanner on the inside (both 24mm). This miserable bolt never wants to come out easy so set a good few hours just to take it out. Heat and brute force always works but be very weary of the fuel tank...
  • Arm should wriggle out when the bolt is out :) when putting the bolt back in lace it with copper grease or anti seizing paste. Look for surface rust, clean and hammerite over it. The rest of the install is as above only reversed ;)

I think I will take it to the garage ! sounds complex...

But thanks
