hey all, been a while since ive been in this land, mainly due to nice running bravo'ness, but sadly was MOT time yesterday!!

didnt doo too badly considering, both wishbone ball joints gone but expected that as did the arb bushes earlier int he year and still had the lovely knocky rattle!! Exhaust mounts gone on the front and middle (and the rear on an advisory due to rac man having to cut it whent he back box fell off on the wife, and it being cabletied together!(y)) and a brake pipe (inner rear on subframe), advisory on front pads and tyre sidewall due to a 'little' curbing from the good lady, not bad considering i think!!

now the questions,
Bottom arms, are they an okay job for a moderately competant spanner man?? from what i have seen on a search here that the rear bush is a PITA to get at?? are we talking real pain or just typical fiat pita positioning?? otherwise is it just a case of undo the arb drop links, split ball joint, and unbolt?? (i know its Never quite that simple but you get the gist of it!)

and Exhaust mount wise, am i right in thinking there are two hangers just after the cat, one on each side, and two for the middle/back box and the large one at the bumper end??
may as well do the lot whilst am at it,

will leave the garage to do the brake pipe as i really cant be done with the bleeding etc. lol! do it on the mtb discs no probs, but will leave the car to the garage!!;)

many thanks in advance for your help/advise/comments,

Timmo.

Howdy!

Pity there isnt a balljoint kit for these cars.... Yes it is as you described, that simple :) Putting it back on is slightly more awkward, you have to loosen where the arb bolts onto the wishbone and the 4 bolts that hold the wishbone in place will always put up a fight. But those are just the awkward bits :)

If you are on about the rubber ring mounts they prise out with a screwdriver and fitting them is even easier they just push on :)

Hope this was some help!! :D

thanks guys,
thik its a good idea to get both pipes done as have read on here and the net its a common problem/failing as such on these cars, and its peace of mind!

ive had to do the bottom arms on my old 309gti many times lol and they are much the same with onepeice and ball joint unit, pita to get at the rear mount bolts, etc.
the arms are due tomorrow so will whack the front up as high as can get it and soak every thing in plusgas before attempting it over the weekend! one of the neighbours is a top spanner man incse i get stuck so can always ask him for some abuse lol!

ta muchly!

what a ball ache of a job that is lol! both arms arrived this morning from ebay seller 44mj, can highly recommend him! great price, postage and good quality items!
didnt make it any easier to get on and off lol! ended up with a quick trip to ther breakers yard to get some spare bolts as 3 of the 8 rounded! (fortunately only just up the road) that and they are typically italian and not normal threaded nuts on the arms!!
but all is safely done and ready for retest next week! not something i really want to have to do again in a hurry though! ;)

exhaust mounts were a little easier! ;) with a jug of hot water to get over the Lovely domed ends ont he car side hangers!!

glad its all done though, just leave the garage to do the brake pipes next week!

thanks for the help and pointers, muchly appreciated!
