hi guys

a friend of mine is doing me a big favour and he successfully installed a Hawk alarm on my 1999 bravo.

everything is working fine except for the automatic window closers.

can someone please guide us and tell us how to go around doing the automatic windows closing? which wires are used from the car etc?

we're in doubt if the window module is faulty or not, but then again, we are unsure which wires from the car to use.

any help is MUCH appreciated. if someone could also supply the wiring diagram of my car it would help a lot. (td75, 1999, with AC if it makes any difference)

the alarm and automatic window module are HAWK brand, these to be precise: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CAR-ALARM-REM...arParts_SM&hash=item53da6a9096#ht_7598wt_1021

thank you beforehand

i already have the universal automatic window closure module. it is for 4 doors but i will only be using it for two windows.

i got two wires for every window, but dont know how I have to connect them? from the alarm module it's 100 fine as its sending its signal to the windows module, but from there nothing happens.

everything else of the alarm is working fine.

First thing I would do I stick a multimeter on the module and make sure it's trying to send something out when it gets the signal from the alarm.

From then on you probably need to wire it to the negative side of each window switch. There's prolly a better way of doing it but that's what springs to mind.

of course they are connected.

I'd like to know which wires from the switch are used to pull up the window, and pull down the window.

so a little update...

as already said, I had phoned HAWK to instruct me how to install the window module properly, and this is what they told me:

we followed the instructions and diagram , and now I am left with one problem.

with the car key out of the ignition, only the passenger window goes up.

with the car key turned to ON, both windows go up.

are we missing something? all I know is that the driver window is one touch (while the passenger window isn't).

thank you very much

On my HGT, they are both 1 touch from the driver's side switch on the way down but on the way up, only the driver's side window is - randomly!

I've not got round to looking into it yet but if I find anything I'll update here.

ty very much for your help.

need to get this done asap ... its my only car and atm I cannot use it due to the wire mess inside! only last effort and it's done ..

Some interesting info here but it ends prematurely :(

Edit: Ok, a bit more reading suggests you would need one touch on both windows for it to work properly BUT it's not something that can be done easily on the Bravo/a. HOWEVER, seeing as it'll do your passenger window with the ignition on, it sounds like you might have better luck swapping any switched live wires with permanent ones? Multimeter time ;)

with the ignition off , passenger window goes up, driver window does not.

on the two sets of wires (which go to the window switch/motor) the same thing is happening (in terms of multimeter ...) but strangely enough one goes up, the other doesn;t

so its something with the car ... and since mine is from 1999, i believe its a mk2? and if i read correctly from the link you gave me, theres nothing to do about the one touch as its controlled from the black box unit near the passenger side (behind glove compartment) ?

so is it a relay for each window, or one relay for both? I think I only have one ... big green relay behind the glove compartment

Hey dude, sorry to hear your having a problem getting it all working. It sounds like your really close thou. I've not got any experience in fitting an alarm or auto close windows but it does sound like the drivers side motor is not receiving power are you able to trace the wiring from both doors to see where they are both going? Sorry I'm not much help to you :(

problem is now sorted. wrong wire was being used..

thx every one for the responses

That's brilliant news m8, glad you got it sorted! It did sound like you were close! Out of interest, which wire was wrong? Was it a power wire?

it wasn't myself who installed the alarm, but my friend who is a mechanic.

As u know you have two wires for each window, one to the switch, the other for the motor. I dont know which one of them was installed incorrectly, but if I understood well, one of them must be fed to the wire with the one touch 'feature'.

other than that everything was ok.

the only feature which I decided not to install is the remote engine start, even though I also bought the transponder bypass module. Reason is that I am afraid that it might create problems to the car's electronics ..

Well, due to the Fiat immobiliser, you won't be able to do that anyway - unless you either get a cloned transponder and glue it next to the ignition switch or strip out the factory immobiliser altogether.

I also bought the transponder bypass module

u place the car key inside the module, and it is then connected with the immobiliser/ignition to transfer the code when remote starting.
