would anyone like ot expand on how the hell i get the marea handles off of a marea... i have two identical HLX mareas in two scrappys near me and i cant get the fecking things off........ :GRRRRRRR

i got the door card off.. and can see theres one nut with a widnow mount on it too.. but cant see the other side of the rear of the handle ??

there is only one nut inside the door that requires the door trim to be removed and the glass to be fully up (11m iirc). there is also one bolt on the side of the door (torx iirc) which can be seen without removing anything.

with these 2 removed, the handle can be lifted slightly away from the door, allowing you to pop off both of the 2 metal rods attached to it, trying not to lose the white plastic clip that holds each rod on.

Hello, i rang my local Fiat dealer in Medway and have been quoted £29 inc VAT for one door handle. When i asked how much marea ones were he said that they have no chance of fitting onto a Bravo!! It must of been his first day in the job lol :chin:

£29+VAT, you'd have to be allergic to scrapyards to pay that. surely you could get a pair of 147 handles for that much.

I never got the handles in the end, found out i have a phobia of fiat dealers and am in total love with the scrappys :worship:

Get the door handles off an Alfa 147 the chrome ones they fit with a little modding but they are like hens teeth and pricey

hi, i have the same problem with my door handles so i removed the rubber covers cos they looked alwful i really want to paint them but am not sure what paint to use or how to prepare them or anythink can some please message me and help me. thanks xx

by removing the rubber covers are you not left with a gap betwen the hande and door panel?

you can paint them with a spray paint, any colour you wish. if you want the same colour as the car then getting a good colour match can be tricky. halfords do cheap cans of any colour, just give them the colour code (on the chrome sticker on the side of the boot).

in theory you should prepare them by keying first (rub down with 1200grit paper) and then spray with plastic primer and sand down any roughness and the respray and then you can use the colour spray. personally i think you could get away with simply cleaning the handles now the rubber is off and then spray the colour directly on to them.

usual rotting rubber look:yuck:

how on earth do you get to the 3rd securing screw for the lock barrel..??

tried jiggling all parts around.. next step would be trying to unravel a spring or 2..,
anybody (@Adrian Bravo) done this with success..?

If I'm understanding right you want to take The lock barrel out? The barrel is just held in by a circlip retaining spring. It just pops out.
Oh and you need the key to put the barrel in an open position.

I'd taken these to try and explain better;




I'd undone the 2 x accessible screws, and it appeared to pivot around the lock barrel..
BUT these screws obviously attach the metal backplate to the plastic outer handle,
thanks again..,

I've only got a key for the 1 x lock.. but I'll try and post-up how I get around this,
