Technical Help please!! Injection symbol won't go away

Well, I took the car for it's MOT yesterday, and it failed on the exhaust emissions, so they told me to take it to them today, to have a look at it, I explained to them that the garage told me they changed spark pluggs and the coilpack needed replaced, and they wanted £190 for that, I told him I bought a coil pack for my car from ebay for £28 and changed it myself, so he said he appreciated the info before he did anything, I was dreading the bill would be high, so when I phone him back he told me they have retested the car and it had passed it's MOT, and he changed the leads and pluggs, and that did the trick, I got charged £55 which wasn't too bad, so I thought about the first bill, the garage quoted me £190, if I did go with them and get the car fixed I would of have to pay for the mot an extra £40 bringing the total to £230.
But instead I went my own way and bought a coil pack from the scrapps for £10, but i still had the problem, so I bought a brand new coilpack from ebay £28, paid for the mot £40, and the guy changed the leads and sparkpluggs, and his work, £55, bought injector cleaner and booster £10, now my car is fixed MOT'D all for the total of £143 saving a total of £87, thanks guys for all your help:worship:, and hope this post helps someone:slayer:.

Hi guys, i'm desperately needing some help a few weeks back I started getting the injection symbol showing on the panel of my FIAT BRAVA 1.4 12V, after i would be driving for a while, then i'd noticed if I stopped the car and switch the engine off, and try to star it again it wouldn't, i will have to put my foot all the way down the gas pedal to star it again, so I decided to take it to a garage, I was told they had changed the spark plugs which they did, but the ignition coil needed changed, so they quoted me £190, which I cant afford really, considering I bought the car for £475, so I went to the scraps the other day and bought a coil pack, cameback home and changed the coil pack and the leads, but i still keep getting the symbol,:bang: can anyone help me please, is there anything else I can do?, THIS IS THE SYMBOL BY THE WAY!.

My car, brava 1.2,may 1999,,,,,,that light also comes on for a while,,,,engine cuts out and wont restart,,,,so you guys reccomend a fuel injector cleaner first ? ?...roughly how long for using the fluid ?....ie,,,,20 miles ?.....and if I had a dignostic done, will that reset the engine as to not cut out ?

well, that warning light appears on my dash butlike once a week and sometimes too the car cud not start till i restart and push more gas, i have fiat brava 1.4 12 v. i changed new spark blugs, i put that motor protector by liqui moly but stil nothing, i cleaned the strottle body. i just dont know, please can you tell me what is that MOT?

The answer is always the same....

The Injector / Engine light on the dashboard means that a fault has been logged by the ECU, and you need to get a diagnosis on the system to report which system component (sensor, injector, actuator....) is faulty.

You can then fix the problem and reset the errors / ECU.

Cleaning agents are only useful if you need to clean up emissions if you have problems with your inspection / MOT... you make a concentrated solution in the tank and drive the car hard for 10 minutes.

Don't waste time guessing.

bluejohn is 100 % right the ecu recieves signals from shed loads of actuators and sensors, when a malfuntion occurs like yours the ecu registers the fault in its memory
(for example bad idle or loss of power ect... could be the malfunction of several different sensors all giving the same sympoms) however if you have the ecu diagnosed t will tell you witch item or items is the culprit thus saving you mindless guessing and
un nessecary expense. sorry for my grammer.
