Hi there from Portugal,

My Bravo 1.9JTD as some brake problems, more rear brake power then front.

These are the parts that I have changed:
- flexyhoses - front and rear
- Master brake pump

Is it possible that the vaccum pump (that helps in braking force - dont know the real name.. sorry), that is connected to the engine and sends air pressure, is busted and so theres more pressure in back brakes.

The handbrake is ok. In the morning brakes only in the back, but after half a mile it brakes a little bit more in the front.

There's no obstruction in brake pipes and I already used a high pressure pump for brake fluid change.

He brakes more - front left and rear right.

Heelllpppp

The servo which is operated by the vacuum pump on the engine cannot work on rears rather than fronts.

The system is split diagonally, thats why you are getting more front left/rear right. That is one half of the circuit.

How are the brake pads and shoes?

Are the rears adjusted properly?

Cheers

I know that, what I think is that the vacuum pump is not making enough pressure for the system to work properly. Is that possible?

How are the brake pads and shoes? - Brake shoes (rear brakes yes?) are brand new.

Are the rears adjusted properly?- The hand brake is working evenly, so I think that everything is adjusted properly. Only the brake pedal is malfunction.

Thanks :)

The servo system only assists the pedal effort, has nothing to do with effectiveness of individual brakes.

Its a problem with your rear brakes.

My guess is that the wear ridges on the drums were not removed. The handbrake has been tweaked to make it work, but you are having to shift huge amounts of fluid rearward to get the new shoes to reach the drum.

I'm not convinced... If so why did the problem appeared before I changed all that parts?

I'm going to change the vacuum pump and after that I'll feedback here.

Thanks.

if you haven't changed the pads (front) then what is the condition of the calipers and discs ?. calipers / pads could be seized, and bravos are approaching the stage where discs need to be replaced anyway. they are relatively cheap. If you have ABS (most JTD's should have) then there is no brake balance valve to worry about, but if there is one examine it also. If you changed the shoes did you examine the automatic adjusters to make sure they are working freely ?, and also as rallycinq mentioned, any lip on the drum should be removed. The servo is probably working ok if the pedal gets hard after pressing rapidly a few times with the engine idling. and if it failed, it would not cause a difference in individual wheel braking efforts.
