hi newbie here
my daughter has a r reg brava 1.4 12v 1998
anyway she recently snapped the timing belt.broken bits all over the place.so i changed the head with one out a scrapper
it was running rough( tick tick tick ) on having a look at it noticed the oil pipe above the camshaft had a small crack and the cams on 1 piston looked quite rough. i changed the pipe with the old one out of the broken head
she ran it about for about a month and the ticking got worse ,plus something else happened .......now and again the car would stall as it was driving ,now she noticed that as it was dying the injector light would flash and the temp guage shot up just as the car died.....
once it died she would wait a few seconds and everything was ok again.
it has only happened about 6 times in about 5 weeks ..
i have since changed the car back to her old camshaft which has stopped the ticking but the car still conks out .
i was thinking could it be an air lock in the water system ,causing the temp guage to rise and the engine cutting out to save the car from over heating.......? any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated .
