Hi there,

My 1999 1.8 HLX met with a speed bump the other night and unfortunately the bump won and ripped the sump plug clean out :cry:...... On further inspection it appears a bolt was welded to the plug to get it out at some point and this caught the bump resulting in the unpleasant loss of oil.

Anyhow, it's done now and I was really after some help in trying to locate a new sump for my car. Been to the breakers yards and so far no joy :bang: (still waiting for some quotes to come back). I was wondering if anybody knows if the HGT sump will fit?? Or any other sump for that matter??

Thanks in advance

The Marea is a likely source, the 1.8 engine was quite popular.

Your best bet is to try one of the parts sourcing websites, enter your details and quite quickly a few specialist breakers will phone, text, or email you.

I've used parts247 before, also Continental car breakers in S, Yorks

Another one? I've just done the sump on my JTD Marea.
Very pricey if you have to buy new - £300 ish + Vat at dealer prices for one for mine.

I'm currently waiting to hear if mine can be welded up as it's cracked the back of the sump.

Good luck!

It might be worth speaking to your local council and filling out that pothole damage form Try to claim the money back from them.

If you didn’t go to fast and your car is not lowered the council should pay parts and labour in my opinion. Speed bumps are a joke.

Try Breakeryard.com or look on ebay for someone breaking a 1.8 Bravo, Brava or Marea.
