I was wondering if anyone can help me with this issue, first off I checkd all fuses and nothing is wrong with my fuses in car however, my headlights when switch is on for lights work just fine but the tail lights dont work. Funny thing is the bulbs all look fine and the turn signals work and break lights work as well the only thing that don't work is tail lights. If anyone can give me advice on that it would be great. Thanks.

Do your front side lights work? I have just looked at the wiring diagram and the power feed comes from the light switch then through the ignition switch to both front and rear side lights. If your front side lights don't work either then the problem is either the ignition switch or the light switch. If the front side lights work then there could be an earth problem but as there are two separate earth points, one for the right hand rear light, another for the left hand rear light and the number plate lights that is unlikely.
Some time with a test light or meter is required. If you cannot get hold of a circuit diagram or don't know what to do let me know I will give you some ideas as to where to probe to test for power.:)

Hey nice thread on the wiring diagram because from what you say I actually don't think the side lights are operable so that would lead me to believe the ignition or light switch iteself then? I will check maybe if the bulbs are blown on sides that could be a bad circuit at least I know most electric things if one is blown the they all go so maybe this will help. If not then I will have to look into to ignition or light switch of course maybe having to go to local scrappy to pick one up used. Thanks.

Also for the bulb checking I did replace them with working bulbs but nothing still so I will look into the side lights instead and then switches.

Hey I wanted to mention that the side lights on the car do not work I pulled bulbs out cleaned connections and replaced new bulbs still nothing! Any ideas what could it be next? And no I don't have access to wire diagram yet I do have book coming for repair manual but not diesel model just the normal which is most likly still the same. But any info will be helpful. Thanks. Also side lights look like wires run to front of car inside wheel well fenders?

you need to do what the others have been saying and use a multimeter or testlight to determine whether the power even reaches the boot. if not then you will have to check the wire around the stalks and ignition barrel with the help of a haynes manual with a good wiring diagram.

Have you checked the fuses in the engine compartment.

This will tell you which section of the fusebox the fuses are located so you can be certain for sure. And also the engine ones further down the page.

It could just be a faulty stalk. Ive heard of headlights turning themselves off on 206s, and indicators turning on themselves on most cars so maybe worth investigating.

I did check fuses and they all looked good, what do you mean by stalk? and also boot?

Sorry took me so long to write back anyhow I have not been able to look at the problem latly but I will tom or next day, also my fog lights dont work too so could they be all tied into the tail lights not working and dash lights as well along with side lights. what is funny is the tail lights work on the side lights just they dont work for normal running lights.

Bringing this thead back to life again

Having a similar issue here, but its not exactly the same.
Having the situ here that the front left sidelight wont come on and the rear right tail light wont come on.

But the front right/rear left are working fine.

Fuses are fine, bulbs are fine and oddly today after resetting the fuse, the front left side light came back on for that check, but not the rear right.

Also just to confuse matters more, on an individual check when I had one fuse out and one in for the lights, I had the rear right going, but the front left not working.

As I say the issue seems similar, but at the same time seems different.

Thoughts on this one?
