Hi,

since I bought my 2001 1,6 Brava I had problems with electric windows.

When you start engine, drive or just turn the power on, they can work or not.
After 1-2 or 5 minutes as if it switch itself. If it worked then it stops if it didn't work they work nicely.
I tried spraying contacts at driver's side, but it didn't work. I don't have idea where to look at or what else to do.

Any ideas?

If it's affecting both windows, it's more than likely a problem with the electric window control unit. This is mounted behind the glove box. I'd check for a loose connector there, or clean all the contacts on it?

hi mate,
mine did the same thing but as synchro said it has affected only the windows. behind the glove box there is a green rectangular shaped biggest relay (12V CO71 12/1 written on it also mine is a hgt but yours will be different) I took off and gently tip some of the pins on it in order to fix firmly to its mount. It is fixed now and no problem with the windows :)

MK2's may have a cassette type multi function relay behind the glovebox which operates the electric windows plus more. Check that if you dont see the smaller green relay.

Thanks for replays.
I'll check it out one of these days and report back. (y)
