Hi guys

On the way home from work tonight my injector/engine warning light came on the car wobbled (almost like it was gonna stall).....was going up a steep hill at the time - i pulled over and the engine kept idling as normal - didn't cut out. When i pulled off again it was ok - although the light stayed on a few minutes later i'd stopped at local shop and turned off engine. It restarted fine - no light...and drove fine all the way home.

Should i be worried - really can't afford loads of expense at the moment - according to the handbook the light coming on now & again isn't a problem???

It's a Brava 1.4 1998 - and despite people generally saying how pants they are - i love mine

Hard to say from a distance.
Red injector light means that the ECU has detected something wrong, and it's well possible it's running in some fixed mode right now.
The only way to find out, is going to an official Fiat dealer, and to have the ECU read there, takes less than 15 minutes......
Than you can decide what to do.

The nearest Fiat dealer to here is about 30 miles....i'm assuming i'll make it ok - don't wanna go bang half way there...

You'll make it.
Probably a bad sensor somewhere, but the ECU ( Electronic Control Unit= computer) has several programs to control the engine, even with one or more sensors bad.
Driveability will be less perfect, fuel consumption maybe higher, but for a short while that's no real problem.
The 1,6-16V engine in my car ran bad for some time, didn't have the time to do a proper search, we even went on holiday with it ( Somerset UK, in fact....!!) when we were back home,I went to my Fiat dealer, had the ECU read, it turned out to be a bad O2 sensor, I changed it, and the car runs as smooth as never before....that sensor must have been bad for some time I guess...!

Update - had no more problems....ECU read didn't pinpoint anything wrong with it....so i'm gonna have it serviced....and see if that turns anything up...have driven 600 miles in it this weekend with no worries.....
