1st Inidicators...they seem to sparatically work. Usually they work for 5 mins then as you progress your journey, they stop.

2nd Hazards...Same as Indicators

3rd...Windscreen wipers. As before sometimes they work but they always stop mid run and end up half way across the screen. Not good.

I have been directed to the switch on the steering column so have bought a Haynes manual and am watching a few online that include the levers.

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas before i pay £20 for the switches. Also if anyone has had the same problem. This is the ebay item im thinking of buying...170315831922. Please have a look and let me know

This is my first ever thread so hope its all ok and I can include ebay listings.

Hello everyone and Ill try and keep you updated.

First check for me would be to see if they have a common 12v supply, and whether they share a common earth. (y)

Hmm that sounds to me like I should know what a 12V thingy is?? Im very new to this...Its from an R Reg Brava and mins an R so assumed it wud be the same

 OK. All electrical equipment in a car runs off the battery, that provides 13.5v DC via electrical connections and wires through a fuse-box, and on to the switchgear. Each piece of electrical equipment has to have
a -ve (earth) to complete the electrical circuit to operate. Now I am suggesting that the 3 items you have failing intermittently may have a common 13.5 vDC supply or a common earth.
I dont wish to sound patronising but it may be best for you if a clued up friend or auto electrician takes a look at that for you, or a fellow Brava owner pops along who has experience of this or can help you localise the issue. It needs the use of a voltmeter and an understanding of electrical theory at least at basic level. Good luck (y)

I appreciate your honesty. I have bought the item now, I assumed it would just be a case of fitting the part as per the instructions in the Haynes manual. Maybe I was wrong. I have tried the fuses under the steering wheel but they all seem to be intact. I also checked the fuse (relay?) box under the bonnet. There was space for 2 fuses but only 1 yellow one in there. Not sure if that is important. Ill give it a go. Hopely the Haynes will help me out, if not, Ill have to take it to a garage but I think ill try this first. Appreciate your help so far Ffoxy!

Its probably not important there are lots of empty spaces for optional extras and different engines.

If your new indicator relay fixes that problem id look at the wipers.

I think your wipers may just need re-adjusting. If you take them both off. Then push the wiper stalk up as if you wanted the wipers to wipe once. This ensures the motor is in the correct position. Then refit your wipers taking care not to turn the splines as you tighten the bolt.

If your indicators are still not working you may have a faulty indicator stalk or wiper stalk. Which causes most of the cars electrics to go bonkers. Does the heater fan work or does it only work on maximum speed?
