I had a Sanhei CD player fitted on Friday. It works fine, except that it loses all stored radio stations if I switch the ignition off and remove the security panel. Also, the CD player won't activate if the ignition is in the off position. Anybody come across this problem?

wrongly connected radio
> u get 2 connectors for the radio, 1 that is allways on; and 1 that is on when ignition is on. the 1 that gives u power allways is ment for radios "memory" connection, i think shuld be yellow cable. and red one for main power for radio.
if u connect 2 of the radios cables to the red wire u will get what u describe.
and same to yellow cable would give your radio a chance to play with no ign on.
did u connect ur radio urself? did it had connectors on or u had to add them etc?

No - the player was installed by Halfords.

I just removed the unit to check and there's only two leads in use - one for the antennae, and a connector pin which has a half-dozen wires connected to it including a red one and a yellow one. Along the length of both the red and yellow ones are an exposed section of each wire held by a metal clip and surrounded by clear plastic, but I don't see an obvious way of changing them around.

Update for you.

Finding Bull clips on the wiring I swopped them about so instead of RED - RED and YELLOW - YELLOW , now we go RED - YELLOW YELLOW - RED. One problem is solved - The player now remembers radio stations correctly. Before I convince myself it still has a problem, are you supposed to be able to switch on the CD player when the ignition is off and the key out? That still doesn't happen.

You may have solved this by now but here goes, YELLOW-YELLOW, and RED half from HU connect to the above, this should work & the radio should operate with ignition off, remember to turn HU off when leaving car or a flat battery will occur.(y)
