FTAO MK2 Fiat Brava Owners

I have fitted a MK2 Brava Grille to my Bravo a few months back and noticed that the air intakes don't have any mesh around them. I was wondering is there supposed to be any mesh here or is it standard not to have any mesh?

Marea snouts didn't have mesh, is the Brava grill like a marea one or exactly like a Bravo but simply minus the mesh?

Er no, the marea grille is not like any of the brava grilles. I can tell you that the Mareas grilles did have plastic meshes though. The Brava grille is not a Bravo grille without a mesh. Lets stay on topic and not confuse people, i want a definate answer to whether MK2 Brava grilles came with a mesh as standard. I will wait for someone with a MK2 Brava to clarify as i assume you dont know.

No mesh and no black plastic colour coded outer bit and chrome inner bit. I'll take a pic when i get home if you need more detail.

Is that how they come as standard? Just seems the top part of the radiator is exposed if its left open.

i know its not exactly what your asking but i have a brand spanking new fiat MK2 grille here still in the box and although for the marea i can confirm it is mesh-less, i assume its a change they made across the range.

Re: FTAO MK2 Fiat Brava Owners

I have the mk2 brava. Its not chrome, its just body coloured , and has no mesh.

But directly behind it is the pipe to take it into the air filter anyway.
The mesh will stop large things like squirrels, small birds etc. But its hardly enough to stop dust and dirt going through - So i doubt it makes a difference.

However, If you intend on putting mesh on - please let me know how it goes, I'm considering doing mine.

Is yours a MK2 Brava Grille though, but has had the chrome painted over? Why does yours not have chrome?

You say that theres a pipe directly behind it but I have had a look through the grille and there is no pipe that low down under the slam panel. I doubt yours does either. As the air intake your thinking about is above the slam panel.

I want the mesh to protect the radiator from flying stones, not bothered about dirt, but i want to know is it normal for the grilles not to have a mesh on it.

Re: FTAO MK2 Fiat Brava Owners

I've just looked ay my Y-reg Mk2 Brava - there is no mesh at all, just a hole with the radiator behind it. Just as Helz said.

I should also point out my radiator has travelled 75k trouble-free miles with a open grille (I probably shouldn't say that )

Re: FTAO MK2 Fiat Brava Owners

The lower/bumper grill has no mesh and the radiator is exposed the most there, so nothing to worry about.

Re: FTAO MK2 Fiat Brava Owners

Why don't you just put a mesh over the radiator? The front edge has enough space doesn't it? No fan or anything on the front. Providing you can set the mesh maybe 5-8mm forward of the radiator itself it should provide sufficient protection from most stones you'd have kicked up at you.

Re: FTAO MK2 Fiat Brava Owners

Yeah suppose i could do that.

@Adrian The standard bumper has no mesh, but the way its designed and the way the vents are angled they help stop stones getting past. However my Abarth bumper has a mesh.

I'm going to use the plastic mesh found on new marea grilles and glue it to my Brava one, it will probably need modifying to fit perfectly but nothing a sharp knife can't handle.
