Hi All,
I have purchased an Orion transponder key from ebay, and I am having issues programming it to the cars immobiliser.

I have done the search on here and gone through the procedure but I still cannot get it to work.

What happens is as follows.

I put the red key into the ignition, wait for the code light to go out.

I then rermove the key and put the new key into the ignition. However the code light is meant to go off, but it doesn't.

Is this new key a Dud?

This is the one I am trying to use.

I think you need to do two blue keys at any one time. Im a bit to tipsy to go searching, but Jug has explained this procedure accurately. If its the procedure you already have then you've probably not got a chip in the key or something.

Thanks for the reply.

I was also wondering, do you need to program the new key with a code before using the master key in the car to program the Immobiliser recognise the key?

I read somewhere about getting the old key read, and the code applied to the new key.

I was expecting the new key to come with a code already in it, and that I could just program the immobiliser to recognise it.

Maybe that is where I am going wrong.

this is taken from the coupe site hope it helps

  • Have all your keys to hand.
  • Insert Red Key and turn to MAR (ignition on, but do not start the engine) until CODE dissapears. Remove red key.
  • Insert Silver Key, turn to Mar until CODE goes out, remove silver key.
  • Insert Blue Key, turn to Mar until CODE dissapears, remove blue key.
  • Insert Red Key, turn to MAR until CODE dissapears. Remove red key.

You should now have all your keys CODE's stored in the car, and will be able to start with any of them. this needs to be done fairly quickly.

Firstly you do need two blue but that wouldnt effect the blue key not switching the key code light when trying to programme it. There are two transponder systems fitted on Brava/Bravo and this key looks to me as though its one that is a clone key, and needs to have a copy of a transponder signal cloned into it.

As Symon says, the replacement key, because it is an aftermarket programmable one, it does not have a programme in it.
If you you have a blue one you can take it to shop and have the programme copied across to it, and it will work immediately.
If you dont have a blue one, then you need to get two with DIFFERENT codes already in them.
Tony.

I do have the original blue one so I could hopefully get the code copied.

The reason I need a new blue one is that on the original the blade has worn and no longer operates the ignition switch.

Well its even easier if you have an old key, just carve up the old key with sharp knife to get to the black inner, slide out the drawer with the transponder chip in and fit it in the replacement. discard the replacement transponder.

Thanks for that tip Tony, I will give it a try at work tomorrow. (y)

Tony, just to let you know I did this today and it works a treat.

I have a blank key for my coupe also, so now I am looking for another duff key to steal the chip from. :D
