| | Re: Fixing My 1.4 Bravo Engine Misfire Cheers Joske. Ive always wanted to do some serious engine work. Its a shame my car has forced me into it especially as its the worst financial position of my life. Im sure this new block will be a heap of crap, usually when I take a punt like this it blows up in my face. Ill be replacing piston rings and shells if its worthy, If its crap I wont let the driver take it off his truck. Im going to rebuild the engine then get a local garage to just put it in. then bring it back to my house and ill put the rest back together. Last edited by Adrian Bravo; 08-04-2009 at 11:22. | ||

Posts: 12,196 Thanks: 210 Trader Rating: 0 Drives: | Re: Fixing My 1.4 Bravo Engine Misfire the cross-hatched marks you can see on the bore are honing marks, they are meant to be there, and the fact you can still see them shows the engine is not badly worn. conversly on his original block the honing marks are all but gone and there are deep vertical scratches in the bore. this is bad. | ||

| | Re: Fixing My 1.4 Bravo Engine Misfire Yeah as arc says my original has no honing marks whatsoever, Infact they are uttlerly smooth. Well apart from the very wrong vertical scratches. Cheers arc I was going to hone it and do the rings (I didnt know honing was necessary, ta for that info ) Now my dads saying dont bother with new piston rings, so im in two minds Last edited by Adrian Bravo; 24-04-2009 at 12:08. | ||

| | Re: Fixing My 1.4 Bravo Engine Misfire my view is same as above, you can see that bottom end is in pretty good nic, the honing marks are still clear as day so i wouldnt bother replacing the rings and honing (would would probabl need oversized pistons if you did) stick in some new shells and it'll be good | ||
