Please can anyone help me repair my 51 reg Bravo!??

We bought it this week - there was a small damp patch on the roof lining but after the heavy rain the other day there is now a HUGE damp patch by the drivers sun visor. I am sure it is coming from the sunroof as its seems to be quite wet when you slide back the sun roof cover.

I see from these forums that this is quite a common problem that can be easily fixed with sealant??

Can anyone give me a total idiot's step by step guide how to fix this? (and I mean idiot's - I am not great with cars but can follow instructions!!)

I don't really have the cash to shell out to a garage! The car was pretty cheap in the first place and we don't particularly want to spend a fortune on it!

Any help would be appreciated!

There is no step by step guide and you will need to do a heck of hard work to remove the sunroof and seal it properly yourself.

The easiest temporary solution i can offer is to smear vaseline or similar around the sunroof seal when closed. (Obviously dont use your roof afterwards and reapply when you wash the car).

However its a common problem and its the sunroof frame leaking, so changing sunroof seals wont do the job. Crap design on Fiats part sadly.

Am not sure about the drainage - where should I be looking?
(Told you I was an idiot!)
On the drivers side there is a grey strip down full length of the channel along the edge of the roof but there is nothing on the other side at all - should there be a strip on this side too?? Have looked in the manual but can't seem to find any reference to this at all.

Arrrgggghhhh!!!

Also - do you mean to put vaseline on the outside of the car's sunroof or the inside??

(I apologise to all the people reading this who think I am a complete tool!!)

cant really explain, il get some pics up tonight but put it this way when mine went both front seats were absoloutly soaked and huge puddles under both seats, i only know what it is cos my interiors compleetly stripped (n), its like a run off for the sun roof i blocked mine with chewing gum as a tempery mesure was still dropping water on my lap 5 miles down the rd lol

Don't think it is that - as the leak is only on the drivers side and is just on the corner by the sun visor. Haven't noticed any water on the seats at all.
I am fairly certain it is something to do with the sunroof or sunroof seal leaking.

Can anyone tell me any more about these strips on the roof? Should they be there?

trust me im sure its what im thinking of, its like a little nipple facing down, toward the right hand side of the drivers sun visor, im pretty sure its a water run off for the sunroof il get pics soon as im home

directly in the middle of the pic theres what looks like a extended black nipple i rekon its this

So did blocking the drain pipe solve your problem or not?

Does look likely that this is the problem as is in exactly the right place - ta!
Next question - how do we get to roof lining off to get a proper look at it??

Ps - Bec is short for Rebecca as in female - but can post a pic of my husbands' hairy bum if required???!!
