Recently got some fiat coupe 16inch alloys to go on my bravo, the bravo steel wheel bolts are too short for the coupe alloys when i tried 1 on. What bolts do i need? and is anyone selling the correct ones or where i can get them from
cheers

Whatever you do don't use steel wheel bolts or nuts on alloy wheels! They are different and could damage your alloys, possibly bad enough for an alloy to break free.
Any decent custom/wheel shop, possibly even Halfords, should be able to source and sell you the correct bolts.

I'm having a funny problem - my 2001 Brava has "standard" Fiat OEM 15" 7-spoke alloys and 17mm head wheelbolts... I've acquired some older 14" Fiat Brava / Bravo 14" 6-spoke alloys that I thought would fit straight on. However when I tried to mount them I just couldn't get my bolts to catch in the hubs, after a lot of messing I concluded that with the new (i.e. older) wheels, there was not enough thread showing through. It seemed that the wheel was somehow thicker, and the conical hole was shallower and didn't let the bolt seat in quite as much.

Nearly all standard Fiat replacement bolts (from ebay etc) seem to be around 51mm overall length with a 25-28mm thread, which is basically what i've got.

So the question is... does anyone know if the early Brava alloys were like the Coupe alloys, and needed a longer (or different) set of bolts? Anyone got an idea where to find them?

Also, did all 90's Fiats switch to 17mm bolt heads from the earlier 19mm standard?

Cheers for any input...

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought.. I'll measure up later today to confirm things. There seems to be some variation in the basic thread length that you can buy... from 24 to 28mm so if mine are on the lower end of the range in theory an extra 4mm might do the trick.

But I suspect I'll have to go to 19mm bolts, so it's possible that Fiat switched to 17's during the Brava's run... my Tipo has 19mm bolts but steel wheels. These new 14" alloys may end up on the Tipo anyway.. I wanted them on my Brava to use up the old tyres over winter.

You wouldn't think a simple thing could be so complicated... obviously the "standard" length bolts (around 52mm overall) are expected to fit most Fiat cars and OEM alloys. And of course they should work with steel spare wheels as well without problems..

I've noticed that you can get some locating rods that help you fit alloy wheels, these could be added to the shopping basket along with a small torque wrench...
