Hi all, been following the forum for a couple of months now since we got our wife a Bravo and not had a problem until now-yesterday the engine management light started to flash and the car started missing like it was on three cylinders-struggling for cash like the rest of us so tried a diagnosis this morning-when it's running and i take a plug lead off there's a noticable drop in engine note so i assume all four pots are contributing, the engine just won't rev up but if you do it really gradually you can get the revs to rise but not that smoothly-the engine management light flashes while this is happening and it seems to be coughing and spluttering and backfiring through the exhaust--our car is a 2001 Y reg bravo with the 1.2 16 valve, there's no overheating or stuff--seem to vaguely remember this on a rover i had and it was the crankshaft sensor(i think)--i'm starting to panic now-can anyone help with a diagnosis or tell me where the crankshaft sensor is so i can see it's not come unplugged-thanks for your help

mine and my auntys 1.6's are doing this. iv tried plugs, leads and lambda so im going for coilpack next if that fails ill go for a diagnostic check.

well by a stroke of luck i got a AA man to put it on his diagnostic laptop and it came up with the error codes multiple misfires on cylinder 1 2 and 4-he diagnosed a coilpack so i'll try that tomorrow!

well i didn't get a lot of help on here thank you very much to all but i will post up the outcome just in case it helps others!
Multi cylinder misfire on my 1.2-16 valve bravo turned out to be a faulty coil pack but this was caused by a broken plug cap leaking to earth-all done now!
