Hi i got a aftermarket alarm for my fiat bravo 1.2 sx 80 and fitted it ok, the alarm works as its ment to but it also has a remote central locking feature that i cant really set up!

basically its just 3 wires, one to up, one to down (which i think ive figured to be blue/white and a third wire to common line ( i think this is a earth so black wire?)

but my real problem is this: How do i run the wires from the dashboard to the door!!! the only thing i could think of and have tried is to pull the rubber plunger thing off from under the dash (O/S) and feed the wires through, then push the plunger back in kind of squashing the wires beside it. then i repeated the procedure on the door hinge, pulled plunger out, fed wires through and squashed it back in! is this ok? or will i be better off drilling through the footwell/door?

and where do i make the connections isit inside the door/behind the card? or in the actual hinge bit and hide it in the rubber tubing? i tried to do it in the hinge but cant find the white wire in the bundle! theres like 20 wires all tight in a bundle which are all joined to a plug thing so i cant disconnect them! :S please help!

also somone said theres a easier way using a relay under the glovebox does anyone no about this way?

you don't have to run the wires into the door, you can pick up the connection behind the driver's side kick plate. It has been while since I fitted my alarm but I think I still have the car specific wiring diagram. If I remember right it is a negative pulse to lock/unlock, I will look out the instructions over the next day or so and come back to you. Unless anyone can help you sooner.

Hi thanks, i did use the search function, i know its the blue and white wires, im just confesed as to what is the common wire? could this be earth as its neg pulse?

also i tried to do it in the door hinge but after unscrewing the rubber tube i saw the cables are way to tight and the white wire was in the middle of the bunch! i wouldnt be able to find, strip and solder the wires in that small space without great difficulty! so ive had the door off and drilled a hole through insted

There are 2 wire and 3 wire central locking systems. The bravo is only 2 wire. The 3rd wire is not in use. You can find the blue and white wires under the steering wheel under the fuse box. Big clump of wires coming out.

Thanks for clearing that up! ill go and try and do that now, ill have a look under the fuse box and see if i can find the wires, if not the holes already in the door so ill just thread them through.

also as im soldering the wires not scotch clipping them, is there any easy way to strip the wires midway? without using the end? currently ive been slicing them with a scapel but under the dash this could be hard. I dont think cutting the wires then rejoining them is a good idea!

Ok well i just done this and got it working ok, i tried using just the 2 wires and i wouldnt work! so i left the 2 wires attached to the blue and white wires then i earthed the 3rd wire from the alarm to a bolt in the fuse box and volla! its working fine, so the common line is the ground as i suspected

now my only problem is i cant seem to get the door card back on! the white plastic screw things arnt in the door, and i cant seem to get the rubber trim to fit down the glass slot at the top! :S

cheers mate! dont know why the instructions couldnt just say ground or earth lol but there you go! now i just gotta refit the door card, clean the bulk head, and maybe do the heater matrix! :( then i can start the exterier! lol
