Anybody got any photos of this fitted on a 1.6 Bravo. I had a quick look under my bonnet and couldn't see the brake servo hose. On me old AX GT it was hard to miss it. Thanks

here a pic of mine altough its a 1.8hlx, duno how much different the 1.6 engine layout is.

Thanks for the pic, is that your brake servo hose or fuel vapour? Why is that a better pipe to use? 'Lethal/Insurance' ? I wouldn't mind the fact behind the fiction. Thanks a lot. R

The ecotek needs to be fitted close to the manifold so that it has maximum effect. The fuel purge, brake servo, fuel regulator and sometimes the blowpast recovery hoses all meet those requirements. I would not use the fuel regulator hose as it may give injector lag as the ecotek lowers the vacuum. The blowpast recovery hose sometimes has a non return valve fitted in the block, in which case its no good. The brake servo pipe is connected to a safety critical system, the brakes. If you have a failure here it may kill you. The insurance company may also refuse to pay out as you have modified one of the car safety systems. I didn't want to risk either of those. So that leaves the fuel vapour purge hose. The only problem with my 20v is that i'm going to have to strip out the throttle block or other bits to reach it. :(

Let me know how you get on, it may give me a boost to fit mine. :)

Mine fitted into blowpast hose as per manufacturers instructions....then I found out about the non return valve :(. I now have to get to the pipe underneath all that lot.

Good luck :D

It should be ok most of the time, just make sure the connection is secure. I would prob declare it as well if its in brake line just to make sure. I guess i'm just very cautious when it comes to brakes. For it to be dangerous it would have to fail just as you needed to make an emergency stop, any other time and the brakes would just feel heavy.

I used to have one fitted to my AX GT, on that car it was brilliant, I noticed a definate smoother running and more MPG. Not sure on the acceleration cause it was quick anyway. Will do some measurements before I fit and after to let you know the results.

Polecat,

Is the photo you attached of a 20v or another model, at work at the mo so can't have a look at my car.
Its of my 20v, there is a similar photo on the ecotek website showing it fitted there. Unfortunately there is a non return valve fitted in that circuit that stops it from working.

Pete,
As far as I can tell all connections to the manifold are either on the throttle block or neck of the manifold.

Had a look last night under the bonnet and it looks different to the photo polecat. I could find 1 main pipe running from the inlet manifold and it was defo the brake servo hose. Couldn't find anything that looked the same bore near the inlet manifold. Any suggetions?

Had a read of that, thanks. Just to summise if I've got a 1600, the ecotek is basically no good. Not happy with that but look like back to the drawing board with modes. Induction kit I think. Can anybody recommend a decent unit for the 1600.
